2D, Nomad Pearl, or Hy-Road?
« on: July 14, 2009, 03:39:41 AM »
looking for a good medium lane condition ball that i can use on a lot of conditions. basically a go to ball. i have a rouge cell but that is WAY too much ball to use on a medium lane condition. i just got into storm and roto grip and cant be any happier. i used to throw ebonite and the one pearl was my favorite ball. looking for something similar. thanks!

If this helps at all, I just got my arsenal back in tune and a portion of it looks like this,

Hyroad
2nd Dimen.
Natural

The Cell Pearl is alot more ball than usually advertised. "Bench Mark" as you originally stated lays near a weaker solid, or something that is not super radical in its ball motion. Hyroad is a great, I mean great benchmark. You have the best of both worlds when solid meets pearl.

so how would a cell pearl compare to a hyroad then? i talked to my proshop guy today and he recommended getting this line up.

rouge
cell pearl
hyroad
natural

Darn close to the lineup I originally said, so it sounds good to me!

In all seriousness this is a good lineup.  I am not familiar yet with the Natural but would assume based on it being urethane that it is a good fit on the dry side.

With the line up below, you couldn't go wrong. Get some abralon pads and cleaner and have a fun season.

Seriously though, Rogue is versatile and an oiler. CP is very good and can be touched up with 2000abr to bring it closer to ball down with. Hyroad is also versatile. Then you have the Natural for a combo spare/torched ball.

I don't know if i'd leave that big of a gap with the Cell Pearl Hyroad down to the Natural, if it were me i'd suggest a polished storm Furious or the Fast. The Hy-Road is pretty close in total hook to the Cell Pearl, just remember that, but if you see a good deal of oil or are speed dominant what you suggested would be fine other wise i'd suggest swapping the Hy-Road for something weaker.

Magic

I was thinking the same thing and almost replied earlier, but I assume he will drill the CP strong and the Hyroad med-to-weaker.

I wasn't even thinking he needed the CP, but free is free :-)

I was thinking he might want to sell it or trade it in to the pro-shop and go

Rouge
Hyroad
Fast/Mars
Natural

Drill Cell Pearl 4x4 and Hy-Road 5x3 pin above and you will be OK.  Hy-Road will give you a smoother look no matter what layout.
