White pearl cover with all the Storm logos from the past 30 years. Don't know what core is being utilized... but only 30 are being made, not available to the public. It's more of a thank you to those close to the company from its beginnings when the company was known as High Score Products (HSP).
-
That is a big disappointment. I have been a loyal Storm customer since 1989 and was looking forward to this release. >:(
-
That is a big disappointment.
+100000000000000000000000000000000
-
Well, I might not buy anymore new Storm/Roto stuff after this announcement >:(
-
Very disappointed. A ball you can't buy what a joke.
-
Give me time, I'll probably own one.
-
That's fine if they want to do that for people that have been close to the company but don't make a big production out of it. I have owned 60+ Storm balls and I am not saying I won't ever buy another one but I will certainly not buy as often.
-
That sounds cool. Can't wait to see what it looks like!

I've seen it in the announcement video. Personally, I'd be less pissed if they unveiled a brown-colored ball with a generic coverstock and a poop fragrance that you can still actually buy and use in league competition ::)
-
A ball most of us can't get!!!! Sounds great thanks for the announcement storm smh...
-
They gotta be really dumb right now! Terrible marketing move.
-
all the hype and a big let down to lots of people
-
They are probably going to hype it up, then let them trickle our 10 or 20 at a time to get a big price for them. We have seen it before on "limited" releases.
-

This is one of the worst things I've seen from Storm. It's a little confusing on why they did it like this
-
"only 30 made and going to be given to those who helped storm grow since the beginning"
- so us consumers who's been throwing storm are not the ones who've been helping the company grow? I always thought it was the consumers who make the company grow the most.
-
STORM-The Bowlers Company
-
As a marketing move, it's totally dumb. To announce only 30 being made yet a ton of people have thrown Storm for a long time, it could and will be perceived as a big F-U to those who are loyal to the brand. It should have been kept hush hush and in-house only if there was only going to be 30 made.
-
I don't understand why so many are feeling disrespected or disappointed. Yes, as customers you have supported the companies, but the way I look at it is like a gift or bonus to a select few within the organization. A lot of companies (outside of bowling) give bonuses or gifts to the top executives and don't give anything to the lower rank employees, let alone the customers.
Maybe someone can explain it better to me?
Edited to add: or gifts

i believe they do give bonuses to a select few but you dont need to go bragging to public that haha you no get one.
-
I think it was more that the company hyped up this "30th anniversary" this and that, history and look how far we've come so we're gonna unveil something to the public that symbolizes our achievement ect ect. But the thing is once revealed it was mentioned about a select group of people who helped grow the company yet in my mind and I'm sure in others it was the consumers who helped make the company what is is today, without the consumer there would be no storm. Like someone said if they kept this on this hush no one would have cared. It's not the fact people didn't get a ball to buy it's the fact we weren't even acknowledged for the 30 year
-
People were led to believe for weeks there was going to be a remake of another popular storm ball. The 30th anniversary ball is nice but should have been kept "in house"and not "hyped".
-
Well on their Facebook page they have responded to some comments and stated they are now considering a bigger production run because of the disappointment
-
Wow. I'm shocked, confused and can't believe they did something like this. They really screwed the pooch on this one!
-
I think the problem is, info got out about a 30 year anniversary ball. If it was hinted at by Storm or put out in a manner to make people think it was going to be a product release then yes I'd say it's very disappointing.
Still not sure why people get so excited about a spare ball and pay such $$$ for one.

Info didnt get out, it was published by Storm either on their webpage or Facebook (don't recall which). They hyped it up by saying limited edition and small production and that would be unveiled at Bowl Expo. They did nothing to hint at that it would be only 30 balls and not available to the public. IMO Storm screwed the pooch on this one and rightfully so they are backpedaling to fix their gaff. They should have put on their advertisement to whom it will be available for purchase, I.e. people attending Bowl Expo.
-
If that's the case it's disappointing.
Over/under on price when the ball is listed on ebay?
I'm going to put the line at $375
-
Was it a very stupid mistake or a brilliant advertising stunt?
Look at all the publicity it is probably generating on different bowling sites like this.
-
I'm not feeling disappointed or disrespected or anything like that. I have enough bowling balls and don't really need another one. If they would have released a special edition X Factor or Virtual Gravity or El Nino, I probably would have bought the damn thing. I have no interest in an expensive white spare ball. I'll still buy Storm, but they PO'd a lot of people who won't.
-
If you look at StormBowling responses to all the complaints on Facebook it looks like they are reconsidering producing more and opening this up to the public. If this was just a marketing mistake at least it looks like Storm is paying attention to the dissatisfaction of their customers.
The problem was that the story Storm seemed to be sending out (all of which has been pulled from their website and FB BTW) indicated this was something very different, like a reissue of a popular Storm ball from the past. If this is what they had in mind the whole time the problem is not with the ball or the plan but with the messaging they have been providing to the public for the past few months.
-
I have a Nib" HSP" ball sitting in my shop.I'll have to try and score one of those too 😆
-
Loved my yellow sunstorm!!
-
So, Storm is backtracking and electing to listen to its fans and customers by mass-producing the ball. Cool, but, I can't help but wonder what would happen if all of Storm Nation would band together to ask that Storm begin a reissue campaign. Virtual Gravity, Reign, Thunder and Blue Thunder, X-Factor... that would be so awesome.
-
They're mass producing it now? Now that they realized they pissed off so many people? Lol
Me personally I wouldn't buy the ball..

If they had a brain, they would do a vintage line. One high end and one mid price remake a year?
-
Bring back the Vertigo!!!

Even if they listen to the masses and do a larger production run, I won't be buying one. I already have a spare ball that is waiting to be drilled. I don't need another one...especially when its recommended that it not be drilled.

They're probably not worried about the 5 guys on the planet who have nib after nib plastic spare balls just waiting to be drilled

Remakes aren't as big a market as most seem to think. Too many want something different that is their "all time fav" and theres no pleasing most bowlers.
I could have seen a new version of the El Nino to celebrate the anniversary. Original core with a newer cover or something along those lines.

I bet you more lts and rhinos are selling 2:1 compared to the brute line...

This answers my question, as I was scratching my head about them being around for 30 years.. I had remembered only seeing Storm in the early 1990s with the two Sun Storms they put out, while Ebonite and Brunswick were everywhere with reactive resin (Turbo-X, Crush/R, Rhino Pro, etc.). So I was always thinking that Storm was the new kid back then, and would barely be a 25 year old company now. Seeing HSP catches me up. Thanks!

The brute line was a ball with pic of male genitalia on it… .. The LT48 and Rhino are not remakes by any means, only a modern version of what the ball may be like if released today.
Its name, color, and logo are the only thing used from the original lines.
Ebi did actually rerelease and that was short lived. Bowlingball.com did several popular Brunswick remakes exclusively to them and I think had trouble selling off everything.
Its a small market
-
If Storm want's to try the remake route, I'll take a case or two of the Virtual Energy. ;D
-
By definition, a remake would be to take something and modernize it. Thus, the LT-48 and Rhino Pro are remakes.
Reissue, reproduce, re-release, etc. would be bringing back an original ball and keeping it the exact same or very similar. And I would argue that certain balls could be brought back and sell well.

To make again or a new.
So everybody wanting the Virtual Energy would be happy if they took the name and logo and colors of the VE and put it on a Crux and said here we remade the VE like you wanted?
-
I think they would want the original VE, not something with just the VE name on it. As for the bowlingball.com remakes, the Quantums they had remade were NOT the same ball...the original Quantums had no filler and were cover and core. The remakes from bowlingball.com had filler. Who knows if the covers were truly identical or not to the original.

-
They had Quantums and Zones. They were made by Brunswick. I'm pretty sure my Double Helix had filler
-
Kid...I was only talking about the Quantums that Bowlingball.com had remade for them. I don't think either Helix was remade....but I could be wrong. I think it was the Violet, Fire, Raven, Navy.......maybe more?
I know the regular Sage, Midnight Blue, and Double Helix had filler...could be more...The Violet might has as well.

-
No they didn't remake the Helix line. I'm just saying that most went to using fillers and standard production because you could use one core for multiple weights. It was still a remake of those original bowling balls, and very popular ones at that, but the market for those is small.
Most aren't going to pay $109-129 for a remake of a ball that can be bought today in a lower price point. If they would companies would be taking advantage of it asap.
-
Agreed. Not trying to argue that point at all. Was just stating the bowlingball.com remakes were not identical to the original released Quantums.

Well I see Storm has announced the release of 2 new balls in the fall but no mention on releasing the 30th anniversary ball to the public. Anyone know if they are still considering releasing this ball?
-
Probably not, since the attention is gone along with the negative publicity

Did I really want the anniversary ball??
-
It wasn't intended for the public so my guess is no. I think they're flipping dumb, but that's besides the point.
That's like apple releasing a special edition iPhone...but only giving it to rich people or movie stars...
-
After the backlash they received when they unveiled it they made the comment on Facebook "We appreciate everyone's perspective on this and we are now considering producing this for all of our loyal fans." Well I am one of their loyal fans that has been buying their equipment since the beginning and I would still like to purchase this ball.

I believe they already do, but not announcing it. Lol
-
Ok I guess I'm going mad
I could have sworn that I saw a post (FB maybe) yesterday
for a 30th anniversary Teal version that would be produced for everyone
but now I can't find it
similar core and cover to the Marvel if I remember right
-
R2S Pearl and Centripetal
-
It's an overseas release ::)
Marvel Q specs - unscented

There's yet another 30th anni release as well :-X
-
A reliable source told me that it is coming but it is just a reissued repackaged marvel pearl.
-
R2S is different than the R2X on the marvel pearl. This is the bridge between the IQ Tour pearl and the marvel pearl right?
-
Damn that ball looks good though.....
