Drilling thunderstruck pearl
« on: October 02, 2006, 10:39:11 AM »
haw should I drill the thunderstruck pearl if I am looking to get a long arc on a light with clean backs.  I was thinking a 6x4.  That would put it above my middle and I do need the lenght.  Need some input please.

how much more can you go? maybe 6 3/4 ? pin on track? 6 is very close to be on track depends on your pap too but for me that drilling I can use on fried lanes

I have to much hand and am tring to take it out.  I can throw a tropical storm drilled at 5'1/4 and is over the bridge up about 1" from the fingers and it is ok for the 1st game when the back ends are clean but then does not carry. so what do I do

drill the pin out. that should take some of the differential out to decrease flare potential

Here is the thing.  The longer you go with the pin, the more you are storing energy.  More stored energy = more aggressive backend reaction.  If you want to soften up the backend, drill the pin closer to your PAP such as a 3 x 5.  Putting the pin closer to your axis gets the ball rolling quicker which releases energy earlier, and therefore softens up the backend or making it "archy". A 6 x 4 type drilling with alot of hand as you put it, I think is going to create too much length and flip especially on clean backends.
