Absolute Review

Layout: 4.5 x 3 x 2
Surface: Reacta Gloss
Rev Rate: 470
Tilt: 8*
Speed: 17mph

The New Storm Absolute brings a brand-new core and coverstock to the Storm family.  The new Sentinel Core brings the ability to keep overall intermediate differential after drilling allowing the ball to still read the lane strong in the midlane and create a lot of flare down lane.  The new R2S Deep coverstock provides a cleaner and more angular reaction compared to the original R2S pearl coverstock.  The combination of these two features gives a clean and angular motion with a strong midlane read.

What I found with my Absolute was exactly what was expected.  On my typical 44ft house shot I saw a lot of overall length with a sharp backend reaction.  On the fresh of this pattern, it was a little too clean causing an over/under reaction.  After 2 games of transition, I went back to the Absolute and I saw a perfect reaction through the pins.  It allowed me to move a few boards left with my feet after an Infinite Physix and open up my angles to see a strong and angular backend motion.  It was hard to get this ball to not hook super well on the pattern on the break down.  If you have higher ball speed or lower rev rates and need an angular asymmetrical ball, the Absolute is your ball.  If this a ball you prefer to use on the fresh, you may need to remove the reacta gloss for a stronger and smoother ball reaction.  For tournament play, I can see myself using this ball later in the block when asymmetrical is still needed in such patterns that are medium to long and have higher volumes of oil.

Storm Absolute
Layout: 4 x 4 x 2.25 Storm Pin Buffer Layout
Rev Rate: 325 rpm, 7 degree of axis tilt, 40 degree of axis rotation
Testing information: 41 foot THS (medium to light volume)
Bowling Center: Fulton Bowling Center
Kegel Machine – Brunswick Anvilane

The Storm Absolute utilizes the new Sentinel core and R2S Deep hybrid reactive coverstock.  We compared the Storm Absolute to the new Storm Revenant.  The Absolute rolled earlier than the Revenant so it controlled the mid-lane better.  Due to using energy sooner than the Revenant, the Absolute wasn’t as sharp on the back-end but carry was still good on the house shot.  The Orange Cream Soda scent is a bonus.  I see the Absolute being your step down from your strongest asymmetrical pearl.  The Absolute seems to be a touch weaker than the Roto Grip UFO Alert.

The Storm Absolute features the R2S Deep Hybrid Reactive, Sentinel Core, and comes with Reacta Gloss finish. The R2S Deep cover is supposed to be a cleaner cover than the original R2S cover that allows the ball to get through the heads with a big enough core to make the turn once it hits the friction. After throwing it, this describes it very well and was a bit too clean for me. I did very lightly hit it with a 3k pad to just knock the top shine off and it really came to life for me. This ball is amazing when I need to move left and throw right or as well call it “The Slow Wheel”. I can see using this ball when the Exotic Gem is starting to read the lanes too early and you are needing a cleaner ball to get down the lane a bit further. I have had some big sets with this ball, and it already found a place in my bag. This ball will be a house shot killer and another super addition to the Storm line!

Review:
The Absolute is the first single-density asymmetric core in the Storm line since the Lucid.  The extra intermediate differential makes the Absolute respond to friction on the lane more effectively and won’t miss the spot. Storm designates DEEP as Delayed Energy for Enhanced Performance.

The Absolute is an all new asymmetric design for 2023. My first impression OOB is the Absolute is indeed very clean through the front part of the lane. Also, the ball did show nice continuation as advertised. For me, I liked the OOB finish, but may touch up slightly with a 3K or 4K pad as I roll it more. Overall, I see this as a nice transition piece as breakdown of the lanes occur.

The only ball with a similar comparison I have is the Infinite Physix. The Absolute defintely clears the front part of the lane more which I'm ok with. For me, its always easier to take surface down but I like the built in length to work from due to my slower ball speed. I do feel both balls can be in your arsenal as well. The Infinite Physix is a great all around asym ball which has been noted by many sources. The Absolute off the spot continues nicely and I'm excited to see how far this ball can go.

If you are looking for the latest in technology be sure check out the Absolute. This ball is going to turn some heads. Be sure to grab yours today!

Storm has really done it this time, This ball rolls and hooks! Let me tell you what I did, but throw it yourself 1st, then make your own decision. Me, myself...I hit it with a 3000 pad. I wanted it hook just a little earlier other than go long and snap, but that is me and keeping it the way I want it. I started my league, standing 26 with my feet and threw the 16-17 board at the arrows and out to 8-10 at the break point. 3 games just moved a total of 4 left with my feet and 3 on the lane. Just watch the break point lol...the ball will come back! It rolls very nice. It's a 1st ball out of the bag for me. This new technology...is top of the line!

Storm scores another perfect 300 with their release of the Absolute! Storm's brilliant combination of Sentinel Core and R2S Deep Hybrid coverstock makes the Absolute a strong, powerful striking machine! And with its cutting-edge design, the Absolute produced some fantastic results. So, let's take a closer look at what makes the Absolute a "must-have" powerhouse!

From my first roll with the Absolute, I was highly impressed with the Sentinel Core. First, I loved how the Sentinel Core makes it turn off the pattern decisively. Unlike other asymmetric cores that tend to be lazy and take their time to "stand up" and roll. The Sentinel Core reacted crisply off the pattern without being overzealous or erratic. And being a straighter player, I enjoyed the Sentinel's strong angular predictability. Not only could I open up my angles on fresh oil, but the Sentinel Core made me look like I could put my hand in the ball! And lastly, the Sentinel Core makes the Absolute roll with conviction. The Sentinel Core has a powerful impact at the pocket and an impressive continuation that clears the deck without compromise.

Those who read my reviews know I am a huge fan of Hybrid Coverstocks on a THS. And the R2S Deep Hybrid delivers results a THS player can count on! First, on fresh conditions, I like how the R2S cuts a clean path through the heads and goes through the front part of the lane without hesitation. And as the Absolute entered the hook phase, I liked how the R2S Deep Hybrid started to bite through the mid-section without causing the Absolute to labor as it entered the roll phase. And as the Absolute turned off the pattern, I liked how the R2S created a brisk resolute motion toward the pocket. I could count on the R2S to be decisive and predictable without being "jumpy" or over-sensitive as the pattern breaks down and goes away.
The factory Reacta Gloss on the Absolute worked well in most conditions I bowled in. However, being a straighter, high-speed, low-rev player surface is my best friend. So, I took my factory Absolute and hit it with Storm, step #2 compound (320-1500 grit), yes – step #2! And talk about coming alive! I thoroughly enjoyed bowling game three, playing deep and targeting the third arrow. It was fun to watch the Absolute turn left off the pattern and carry with a swirling pin action even when my execution was out totally out of my comfort zone!
In conclusion, Storm has created a huge success with the creation of the Absolute! With its Sentinel Core and the R2S Deep Hybrid Coverstock, the Absolute is an excellent ball for a straighter, high-speed, low-rev player like me! So, stop into your local Storm VIP pro shop today and put the Absolute in your hand for tonight's league! The results will be Absolute!

The new Storm Absolute brings a very popular coverstock from some of the overseas releases stateside. The R2S Deep hybrid is a very clean cover. R & D developed a brand new core called sentinel to team up with this cover. Sentinel has a very unique shape designed to allow the thumb hole to miss the core for most drillings. The core design has an increased intermediate differential, increasing the balls response to friction.

The combination of the core and cover in this ball create a clean, powerful reaction. R2S Deep is phenomenal at ignoring early friction on the lane. This is definitely an innovation at the top end of hook potential as even the cleanest high performance balls would struggle to clear the fronts compared to this one. Another great characteristic of the Absolute is how adjustable it is. Adding surface to the R2S Deep can make it much stronger in the oil, but the coverstock formulation seems to keep it from losing that cleaner characteristic in comparison to other balls when you add surface. So you can upgrade the mid-lane motion without having to worry too much about the ball burning up.

I first tested the Absolute on our high volume house pattern. The first time I took it out was for a prebowl for league. There was a lot of down-lane hang on the freshly oiled pair we used. I wasn't having much luck in practice with getting anything back when I sent it right down-lane, but trying to square the ball up more felt very tricking because it would see the friction in the track and want to start up too soon.
I tried the Absolute and found that I could be in a bit more and straighten the angle up to keep the ball from getting too far right. The Absolute responded beautifully, ignoring the higher friction in the track in the front of the lane. It also created a strong motion in the shorter window down-lane as I wasn't getting the ball too far right of the pocket. The result gave me an initial impression that this ball wasn't too strong down-lane and would look better at straighter angles.

I decided to throw it again on my next league night a few days later, and I'm glad I did. I hadn't realized how much the specific condition the first time out had shaped my impressions of the ball. The backends were much cleaner this night and my Absolute was very strong in the back-end. I still had the clean, easy length but the ball could go much more left to right compared to the first time I'd used it and had no issue making it back to the pocket. The versatility of finding a look I really liked with this ball on both of the lane conditions makes me excited to throw this ball more on a variety of conditions. It's already pretty much a lock to make it into my bag for nationals this year.

This ball definitely belongs in the tournament bag. To my eyes its cleaner than all the other Premier line balls currently available. It's cleaner and still more controllable down-lane than the Dark Code. It seem to be effective from whatever angle you choose to use it at, which means it should match up with a wide range of styles.

Absolute. The consistency of this ball is just that. The new Storm Products Absolute is a unique piece in the Premier Line that is unlike anything we have seen from Storm in recent years. This ball features the new Sentinel core and the new R2S Deep Hybrid cover. This combination creates an incredibly consistent ball motion off the end of the pattern. With an Intermediate Diff of 0.021, the Absolute is clean through the fronts and mids while creating a smooth reaction off the end of the pattern. My Absolute is drilled 4.5x4x3.5 2LS, which helps use this motion to my advantage due to my higher ball speed and rev rate. Out of the box, I sanded it with 500-1000 and finished with Storm's Step 2 compound to break the polish it came with. This ball reminds me of a slightly weaker Altered Reality as it has a strong but smooth reaction.

Comparing the Absolute to the Infinite Physix, the IP is much earlier and stronger overall. This was expected as the IP has the REX pearl overstock and is finished at 4000. Both of the balls feature a low RG of 2.48, but the  different in ball reaction stemmed from core shape and cover strength. My IP is drilled 4.5x3.75x3.75 to give a similar ball reaction to my Absolute, but can be used earlier in a block or even on fresh given certain conditions. When the pattern starts to make my Infinite hook too early, I know I will be able to get a similar shape and controllable read with my Absolute.
