Agent Core
« on: May 14, 2006, 10:47:19 PM »
This is just speculation, but i thought it looks pretty much like the Zone Classic's core(just not ayssemmetrical). Anyone with the same views?

...and I'm sure you can backup that statement with some factual data right?

yeah well considering the fact i own the agent and used to own a zone classic and compared to each other the Agent is much more angular and stronger over all and i'm not talking about the weak classic either. The agent really gets going starting midlane and then the rediculous change of direction and the racing backend its really a great ball that most don't know about yet

I don't know why they keep using Reactor, I don't like it, and nobody I know likes it.  It's too jumpy.  It reads track burn harder than any coverstock I've seen.  I used to throw Storm exclusively, and I preached it to everybody I knew.  I'm not gonna sit here and bash them, but stuff has been pretty disappointing for the last year or so.  I was really starting to think I didn't know a thing about drilling.  Now I'm using Brunswick, and since I don't have to fight the ball so much, my average went up about 15 pins.  If I could get a Storm ball to do what it's supposed to do, I'd still be drilling them.

IMHO lightbulb cores are more than just a shape.  When I think lightbulb cores I picture The Beast or the Teal Rhino Pro core.  Both core have a higher RG and less differential than the "lightbulb" core found in the Agent.

I think it's pretty bad when they take a cover that's been on their mid-price-plus line and put it on their new high-end ball.  Isn't it usually the other way around?  Hmmm?  Maybe I could just save the cabbage and get a Fired-Up or a Pyro which also have symmetrical cores.

Doesn't the reactor cover go all the way down to the tropical line?

Got a friend who bought a tropical for dry conditions.  Now, he uses it first out of the bag cause it hooks so much more than he was told it would, and it seems to carry surprisingly well also.

The balls price tag partly due to the multi component core that has to be assembled in parts generally in a multi step process. The thicker the coverstock also means more coverstock material which is more expensive than the cheaper filler material.

Reactor is on alot of balls but the cheaper lines for example the Tropicals have very simple cores that lowers the price and an intermediate core of filler that makes the coverstock thinner and cuts down on price as well.

This doesnt mean that Reactor is bad its just Storms latest most versatile coverstock that they feel confident makes alot of their designs very versatile for the customers.

I guess I'm just a simpleton, but my criteria for a bowling ball is....does it knock down pins when I throw it. If it does, and does so consistently, I'm happy. Seriously, I'm sure the Agent has had it's cover "tweaked" quite a bit vis a vis the Tropicals. It's "not the same cover".

reactor pearl is a great cover and is obviously working for storm at all angles, low end, mid-range and high end .... its a very good cover period

agent from wut i have seen is clean through the heads and rolls strong off the break... its basically a heavy rolling pearl... which if needed is awesome
