Agent Line
« on: February 26, 2008, 02:38:52 AM »
Anyone know what Storm plans to do with the Agent line? Are they going to keep it and use the new coverstock on the agent core? or are they going to start up a new series?

I agree! I have a Secret Agent and love it. I hope they keep the core and put the new R2X coverstock on it.

I don't see a reason to make the Agents go away because they are quite useful.

The main reason I bring it up is that it seems like Storm's MO is to come out with 4 balls per line and then move on to a new core. I'd like to see the new coverstock with the agent core.

You mean like an Agent with R2X Pearl?

Since they discontinued the Double Agent (pearl/part) that seems to be the most logical next in line.  A R2X pearl/part Agent core.  I really like my Gravity Shift, so I can see that happening in the Agent line.  The Agent line has been a really hot seller for them.  I think the Agent is their longest running ball at moment?  April or May 2006?  That's a long time in the day & age of new balls every 3 months & considering they already discontinued a ball in the same line that came out after it.

hmmmm - kind of.  Keep in mind the Double Agent may have been a pearl particle but it came box at 1000 abralon.  The Secret Agent is a hybrid (part pearl, part solid) particle box at 4000 abralon.  Both of these balls, while they contain pearl additives, don't act anything like what a typical pearl particle like an X-Factor Ace or a Shift act.  I would not expect another particle Agent any time soon.

I would expect a replacement to the ageing - although well thought of - original Agent being the next ball in the Master line.  Maybe a R2X pearl to replace the Agent's original Reactor?

Personally the pearl particle I think Storm REALLY needs to make is a T-Road pearl particle.  Something to replace the Ragin' Banshee would really help round out my arsenal.

greene, so do you think the Shift might be the last of the true "Pearl/Particles"?  Because it seems every particle ball released by Storm since the Shift have all been Solid particles, Jolt line, or those hybrid solid/pearl w/ particles in the Master & Fire lines.  Makes me wonder why they haven't come out w/a T-Road solid/part or hybrid part.  Maybe they think it would be overly redundant to have all of the lines w/the same options of R2S coverstocks.  I dunno, just wondering aloud.

Great question Monster.

It seems to me that many of the ball manufacturers are abandoning particles all together.  I really hope Storm doesn't follow that trend because I see real value in the different looks you get from both solid and pearl particle balls.  Storm, Brunswick, and some of the smaller ball companies continue to offer particle balls but I am hard pressed to find 1 particle ball in the entire Ebonite conglomerate.

Pearl particle balls have been sucessful for Storm so I would expect them to continue down that path for a while.  I don't think the Shift was the last pearl particle for them, but I do expect Storm to only have a couple of particle balls at any given time.

The Double / Secret Agents have their place but as far as I can tell they haven't been huge sellers.  I haven't seen anyone throw a Jolt Particle so I am assuming that isn't a big seller either (I could be wrong and am happy to be corrected).  The only particle in Storm's current lineup that seems to be a big seller is the Shift; so why not another on the popular Thunder Road core?

p.s., sorry for highjacking this thread with a different topic, but I felt that Monster's question was one of the most interesting one's on this forum in a while.

no problem greene. i agree with what you're saying about the pearl particles. i've had a lot of success with the secret agent with the low rg core/ pp hybrid coverstock combo. very "rolly" and controllable. it would be interesting to see something similar on the thunderstruck core. i would think this would be a good seller for storm too based on the success of the t-roads.

i think storm is due to come out with something pp though. the last few releases have all been reactive (gravity, rapid fire, sure fire, troad solid i think are the last four releases if i'm not mistaken, all reactive coverstocks)
