All the X-Factor talk convinced me to finally pull out my old friend this week and  do a little bowling with it again. Unfortunately, it took me about five shots to remember why I'd put it up in the first place: The ball literally has around 1,500 games on it.

It's dead as a doornail. When I could get it to the pocket, it still carried like a champ but even on a fairly dry house shot you could see it struggling to hook up.

Before this last attempt at using it again, I tried hitting it with Storm ReactaShine and some XtraShine as well because the cover looked a little dull. The ball has already been resurfaced a couple of times so before I go down that road again I'd like a gameplan. I don't want to just keep sanding ball material off unless I know what I'm doing first.

If you don't feel like spending money on a revivor, sand it down (400 is probably sufficient), then run it through the dishwasher (NO HEAT DRY CYCLE) with whatever soap you use for dishes.  Skip extra chemicals like Jet Dry if you normally use them.  Bring it up to 600-800 grit, then add a light coat of your favorite polish.  For me, the dishwasher works better than the hot water bucket method and I haven't had any problems with it.  It saved my Tsunami.
