Title: August...
Post by: AlonzoHarris on June 27, 2017, 10:24:38 AM
I'm betting a Master and/or Thunder line release for August.

I don't really see something they will branch from though so my guess is a "whole new" ball(s).

Torrent didn't get enough hype to hype another one with a different cover imo. A hybrid Phaze...don't know that I really see that either.

I'm not really allowed to comment on rumors and the like, now we don't hear anything before it gets leaked to begin with, they don't want any of us doing the leaking, so everything is announced to distributors first and then us, but I haven't heard any rumors anyway aside from the green ball at expo possibly being a new IQ.  It's something a lot of the staffers and everyone in general has been talking about and asking for.  The Marvel Pearl is just a special deal, so despite it being in the Master line, it doesn't really "count."  The IQ Tour Solid is starting to show its age and EVERYONE is noticing.  An updated IQTS wouldn't be a horrible idea.  Of course, I still want the Nano back, absolutely zero clue why it's not still being made, one of the best balls I've ever thrown.

Hybrid Phaze has been released overseas in the Phaze/G, if we got that one it would be pretty awesome.  A pearl or hybrid Torrent is likely the next Thunder line release.  No it didn't get a lot of hype, but it's too good to ignore.  Thunder line has a lot of old stuff in it though, but we haven't seen a hybrid in the Thunder line since the Rocket, so I'm betting on hybrid Torrent.

Signature line likely getting another release very soon.  This would be the perfect time to do it.  A big name big hype release for the beginning of the league season?  Winner.

Feedback on the green ball did make it sound like IQ Tour Solid(ish). In some aspect, I feel like the Dare Devil Trick has been that updated version, but I get there is a name there that will sell so why not right?

PDW for that next signature line maybe?

I'm certainly curious to see how Master and Thunder lines develop.

PDW ball would make sense, next biggest name.  IQ is too big a name to drop or stop expanding on, so I'd be stunned if we don't see more.  Dare Devil Trick IS the new IQ Tour Solid, but it's not a Storm ball, so the likelihood of it being around for long is low.  It SHOULD be, but hopefully won't be overshadowed by what Storm releases, it's just too good.

They can't keep the Thunder line the way it is, something has to go.  The two Pitches and the two Hyroads keep that line full, and there really hasn't been anything GREAT in the Master line since the IQ Tour Fusion and Nano.  I see the Phaze 2 as just a slightly better Optimus Solid, and that's not saying much.  The OG Optimus was ok, but it was supposed to be a Marvel Pearl replacement that just wasn't.  I think they're going to release a new IQ because nothing in the Master line has really done well, that's why they just discontinued pretty well the whole line here recently I'm guessing.

Luke, did the NRG cover hold up better for you than the TX-16? I hope the Master Line can become a bit more stable. Wonder what kind of covers they will be looking into.
On the Thunder Line, I know that they haven't made a hybrid in a bit, but they just released the Code Red and Timeless with the R2S Hybrid. The Code Red seems like it can hold its own, but the Timeless seems to only thrive in friction environments. Plus, the Hy-Road is still selling well from what I've heard. The Thunder and Master line hasn't had a successful pearl in quite some time. The Sky Rocket was meh, the 30 didn't do as well as expected, Optimus and Fusion were mentioned already, can't even remember the last successful Thunder line hybrid or pearl since the Hy-Road Pearl. So a low RG Pearl in the signature line, green ball for the Master line, and a pearl for the Thunder line coming up?

I don't like the Phaze 2 cover.  Way too sensitive, way too much maintenance.  Much prefer the NRG cover.  Big fan of the cover on the Sure Lock, don't like that core though.  I'd have rather they discontinued the IQ Tour Solid and kept the Nano, Nano is/was a much better ball.

Luke - what have you noticed about that RAD-X core that created a dislike? Never thrown a Lock series ball personally.

Wow! Really? What about the Tour Solid doesn't wow you in that you'd rather have kept the Nano? I agree the Nano was an awesome ball but hardly usable enough with the NRG cover.

The Locks are all too jerky off the spot, which sometimes makes them hard to get into the pocket, for me there are too many 4 pins, ring 10s and flat 10s, just burn up too much on the turn or don't quite make the corner in a bit of carrydown.  Much bigger fan of the core in the Crux series.

It's just a wholly average ball.  It's so versatile and so middle of the road that there's nothing it truly excels on.  Whatever situation you're in, there's always a better reaction to be had.  The Nano offered everything the Solid does, but with some more defined or refined characteristics, specifically what I consider a better transition and backend read with similar control.  The Solid is a damage control ball at best, just gets 9 way too many times to make it a factor in actually scoring.

I thought the PDW  (I AM)

Personally I think a ball for Norm Duke would be much better
