Title: Axiom Pearl Review
Post by: StormAndrew on October 07, 2020, 11:06:46 AM
The Axiom Pearl features the orbital core found in the original Axiom although this time the pearl features a new cover; NeX which is Storm's earliest reading cover to date.
I found with the Axiom Pearl it provided tons of overall shape in the mid-lane with plenty of continuation off the spot. For those looking for something earlier and smoother than the Idol Pearl this will be the ball to go to.

Talk about hard hitting! This ball has it.  You would think it was an Asym it hits so hard.  Storm has hit the jackpot with this ball.  With the NEX Pearl Coverstock, this ball gets though the front part of the lane and when it turns the corner it makes a move like no other.  I have drilled two of them.  60 x 3 3/4” x 25 and another one 50 x 4 1/4” x 45.  This ball has a very strong forward roll.  Hooks about 3-4 boards more then the TREND ball and the colors show the skid, hook and roll phaze very easily.  This is a must have in your bag.  When you need to get left this ball seems to not quit.  Medium to high flare ball this ball drives with power.  I throw 14lb and you would never know it.  The way this ball launches pins is incredible.  Reminds me of the Nuclear Cell as far as hitting power. You struggle with rev rate?  Not to worry, it is very versatile to any style of bowler.  You wont be disappointed with this ball!!

The Axiom Pearl is the next installment in the Master Line.  I particularly looked forward to this ball as it going to be a strong coverstock/core combination that will be more angular than the original Axiom.  This ball did not disappoint as it reads the midlane strong and angles in the backend going through the pins very well.  Compared to the Trend, the Axiom Pearl is a little earlier rolling and a little more smoother in the back part of the lane.  This ball to me is great on heavier volumes of oil, sport conditions or house conditions where you can be a little straighter on the lanes.  This is definitely a great ball to have if you love the motion of the original Axiom and find that the ball can get a little too slow on the backend. The Axiom and Axiom Pearl are a great 1-2 punch!

The Axiom Pearl features the same low RG, high differential core found in the original Axiom but is now wrapped in NEX pearl. NEX pearl is Storm's latest rendition to its nano based covers. The design intent behind NEX was to enhance midlane traction without sacrificing downlane motion. This combination provides exactly what you want to see out of a stronger symmetrical ball. During the middle games of a tournament block, as soon as you are forced left it is important to keep a strong ball in your hands to control the midlane. The Axiom Pearl provides the midlane control needed with the energy retention required to get the ball through the pins properly. This ball reaction reminds me a lot of the SonIQ and Marvel Pearl which were both staples in my bag a few years back. When compared to the Axiom, the Axiom Pearl is 2 to 3 boards more overall and 2 to 3 feet later downlane. When thrown against the Hyroad, the Axiom Pearl provides much more traction and slows down much faster. Be sure to stop into your local Storm VIP pro shop and preorder your very own Axiom Pearl for the October 9th release!

Axiom Pearl
Layout - 55 x 4 x 70
This is by far the best shiny pearlized symmetric ball I have drilled!  The Axiom is incredible for me, for sure the strongest symmetric ball we make.  When I need a shiny ball from there the Phaze 3 is a bit too long in the oil and too sharp off of the friction.  This Axiom Pearl is the closest ball I've seen to the Marvel Pearl.  It is alot of hook for that shiny of a ball and doesn't over-hook off of the dry!  Everyone needs this ball!

Maybe Off topic since it's not a review.

Hi guys! My wife wants this ball. She likes to throw it straight down 2nd or 3rd arrow with slow to medium speed and with low revs. Will this fit as her 1st ball in League? Any thoughts guys?

Cover: NeX Pearl

Core: Orbital Core

Finish: 1500 Polish

RG: 2.48

Differential: 0.050

ME:

Right-Handed Tweener

Speed: 12-13 mph

Rev Rate: 315

PAP: 4 7/8 Right 3/8 Up

Ball Layout: Pin In Ring 4 1/2 Pin to Pap 3 inch pin buffer

The New Storm Axiom Pearl has already been very popular with the Tour players. The orbital core has been wrapped in the NEX Pearl cover. As stated by the company: "NeX (Nano Extreme) is Storm's earliest reading cover to date. NeX was remarkably earlier hooking than NRG on any pattern, or any surface we tested it on. Our standardized durability and longevity tests showed NeX created 11% more entry angle and 9.6% more overall hook after 50 shots compared to a fresh NRG cover. Simply put, NeX gives more midlane read than ever WITHOUT sacrificing any backend!"

The description certainly bears out when tested. This ball gives you a lot of mid-lane read for a Pearl. The higher volume patterns used on tour would definitely work well for a ball this strong. This is the strongest symmetric pearl ball I have ever thrown. I see it being a favorite for people with higher ball speeds and lower rev-rates in a league atmosphere and for anyone bowls on sport patterns. I had to find another gear to get it down-lane on the higher friction surface where I bowl league, but once I resigned myself to playing left to right I immediately saw how once I provided the speed the ball would provide the hook and hit.

BOWLER STYLE: RH - Power Stroker Rev Rate: 320 Ball Speed: 15-16 PAP: 4 7/8 right 3/8 up.

My Thoughts.... I mean what can I say? By this time you should have already been rolling the Axiom Solid and this Pearl is the jelly to a peanut butter sandwich. The NEX solid cover is a proven winner and that makes the solid a winner. So what can the guys in Utah do to improve the next ball? Let's release a pearl! This pearl is everything that the solid is and when you get to a point where the solid will not make the corner all you have to do is get the Pearl out of the bag and keep on striking!!!

Introducing the newest addition to the Storm Products Master Line, the brand new Axiom Pearl! The Axiom Pearl features the NeX Pearl Reactive Coverstock wrapped around the Orbital Core. The Axiom Pearl is a cleaner, more responsive and, more backend version of the Axiom. The Axiom and, Axiom Pearl are the perfect 1,2 punch that compliment each other perfectly! I am definitely in love with the motion of this ball. So much that I can't put it down. This ball for me is perfect for when my Axiom starts responding to early or, is to smooth and, just doesn't have enough to get there. Storm definitely hit a grand slam with this ball

Storm’s Axiom Pearl features the same fast revving Orbital Core as the original as the Axiom but this one is wrapped around the pearl version of the NeX. I drilled mine 5.5 x 5 x 3, after throwing a couple games with the Axiom Pearl, I noticed that it was clean as any other pearl ball but it wasn’t as angular as one. The backend reaction was still strong but it reminded me more of a solid cover bowling ball on it was smooth and continuous.  This ball will be very versatile as I believe I will be able to use it on the fresh when I see friction all over the lane and also sometimes later in blocks! Higher friction house shots will best suit this ball for league!

The Storm Axiom Pearl is a ball for your bag when you need that little extra pop on the backend yet still that controllable look. I drilled mine with my favorite 5x5x2 with out of the box factory finish. It gets through the heads clean, reads the mid-lane a little later, as it should with the pearl coverstock, and finishes very strong and angular. Man it hit with so much power, pins explode. When it hits the dry look out, it gets moving.  I was able to play the oil line on the THS and move in deeper from the start. You’ll have to increase speed as the oil goes away or move in. Stand Left, throw right and you won’t have a problem with this one recovering.  It’s the perfect compliments to the Axiom Solid when you need longer and stronger. My PAP is 5-1/8 and 1/8 up. Usually around 15-16mph, I’d probably be classified between and tweener and cranker.
