Title: ball and layouts
Post by: 2handedrook12 on March 28, 2013, 11:01:30 AM
So i figured bowling balls could fix my condition struggles which it did. But i dont think my layouts where given with much thought. From what i understand, pin closer to pap is for playing straighter, and pin further from pap is for maximum lenght and energy. Also, someone just posted asymmetrical. Balls also have properties with your layout. I believe it was luckylefty. Mass bias. Over 1 and 1/2 inches away from thumb hole allows you to get deeper, and mass bias closest to the thumb hole, allows you to play straighter. So in my case, an arsenal consisting of a nano 3 1/2 pin from pap and mass bias 1/2 inch from my pap and pin up for heavy. Marvel pearl with p1 weight hole, 6 inxhes from pin to pap for medium. Frantic drilled rico. And a tropical heat drilled w p1 weight hole, 7 inch pin to pap, pin up and to the left for light oil would cover pretty much anything i see?

first of all those numbers mean nothing without knowing your release specs. those numbers could mean something different for everyone. also the dual angle layout method is much more accurate when describing layouts because 1 1/2 from thumb is a different layout for everyone. lastly the 7" pin-pap layout doesnt seem right to me. it seems like that layout would reverse flare.

on a side note. layouts on symetrical cores will do something defferent on asymetrical cores. further pin-pap on symetrical promotes more length and less flare while on asymm it promotes more flare and more forward roll

My specs are PAP 5 1/2 and up 1/4 inch.  My Axis rotation is near 60 degrees.

The dual angle layout on the ball with the mass bias closer to my thumb is wider than the angle of the one away from my thumb.

On mass bias balls a big difference for me.  Maybe less for up the backers.....I would guess so from the Blueprints I have seen.

No ball can give you what hard, honest practice can.

But different balls and layouts can give you a preferred path to the pocket if there is a defined and narrow playable area.

We hear all the time of players on the protours using two balls one on one lane and one on the other.

Also we hear them say I made a ball switch a little late and it cost me the tournament.

I hear they are pretty versatile....

Ball knowledge=good.  No ball knowledge.= BAD.  Practice=Good, No Practice=Bad.

Ball knowledge why some of of us come to ballreviews.com....I think!
