Title: Ball for the Wife
Post by: byronk on June 19, 2013, 02:38:13 PM
Hey all, im looking for a new ball for the wife. She wants a Storm or another Roto Grip. Shes got a Rising Star and DV8 Diva now. She's rev dominant mostly due to slow speed, around 11mph. We bowl mostly Med to Medium/Light conditions and she's has a 160 average in league. Problem she has is everything seems to hook to soon. I've sanded her DV8 Diva to 4000 and even added polish but she still has a hard time controlling it. I've taken her Rising Star to 2000 with polish and its a much better, more consistant reaction for her but moslty later in Leauge or on dryer conditions. We've been looking at the Freakn Frantic, what do you guys think? Any recomedations on a ball for Medium conditions for her? Thanks for any help.

It sounds like she needs something that is a step down from the Diva and more backend than the Rising Star?  If so, may want to look in to lower end ball that still has some backend, maybe like a Tropical Heat series ball.  Another ball to look into could be the Scream by Roto.  Either one should help get down the lane better than the Diva and make sure the layout is a length layout; say 5 to 5 1/2 inch pin to her axis point and the pin up above the fingers.

What types of layouts are on her Diva and Rising as cover prep is only part of the equation to a good rolling ball.

Thanks for the reply. Not sure of the layout on them, i'll have to look when I get home. The guy who drills for us watched my wife bowl before he drilled each ball and knows she's rev dominant so hopefully the layout reflects that. Backend is definatley not an issure for her even with the rising start, but the rising star is much smoother and generally longer than the diva.

I was in the same boat for my girlfriend. ..I said F'it and got a critical theory.  She loves it ..she loves the way she can see it rev up.  And if I need to I can put step 2 or 3 to tame it down a bit!

My Wife loves her Shatter, but she throws the ball about 13.5 with very vew revs.  You might look into the new Roto Grip Scream 2013.

You could also go with a Radical Torrid Elite, the new Radical Torrid Affair that will be out in a couple of weeks, or a DV8 Misfit.
