Ball showing track marks already?
« on: February 10, 2006, 01:36:31 AM »
I've never had a Pearlized ball before, so maybe this is a common occurance, but my SS Pearl is showing track marks after about 20 games!  I've tried using cleaners to get rid of them, but they don't work.  The rest of the ball is nice and tacky, but when I run my fingers of the track area it feels dull.  What can I do to get rid of the track marks?

Polish will wear off over time.  Shouldn't be 20 games unless you've got mondo revs, though.  It's also been my experience that polished stuff picks up dirt and grime a lot easier than dull stuff.

Acetone works well for me getting rid of track marks..depends on what conditions you bowl on..if its burned up then maybe you want to think about repolishing the ball again

Acetone is also illegal.  I don't care if it doesn't hurt the ball, if the rule is outdated or legit, or if it does the job just fine.  It's still illegal.

I'm not sure I would qualify for mondo revs, but my league tends to put out as little oil as possible.  What polish do you recommend to keep it at OOB condition?

Are the lanes wood or synthetic. Wood lanes will track up a ball a lot faster than synthetic lanes. 20 games seems about right for the house I play......

Synthetic lanes.  I seem to remember them being switched over back in the 80's, so they have some mileage on them.
