I'm going to pick up something new tomorrow.
Trying to find a replacement for my Reign Supreme, which was my favorite ball ever. It is currently toast, so I would like to find something similar.
Currently using:
Reign Supreme (Probably 500 games on it)
Reign (Not comfortable with it unless i'm playing a tight line in deep)
Ebonite Bash (Currently my go to ball even though it is my oldest)
Virtual Gravity (Go to if I feel like moving outside and throwing it hard)
I throw the ball moderately fast with a lot of hand, so I don't think I need anything to strong. Currently averaging 213 and 217 in my two leagues. I was thinking that I really like the looks of the frantic. Those Hybrid covers have been really appealing since I could throw the Supreme on just about anything.
Any advice is appreciated :)

You can call me crazy but if you are really tuned into hybrid covers, you may also want to look into the Tropical Heat Hybrid. Ball seems to do really well on both house shots as well as tournament shots.
-
I always wanted to try the 2nd Dimension and the Virtual Energy, but never got the chance to. Anything similar to either of those out there right now?
-
Defiant Soul is comparable to the VE from RotoGrip...just not as angular.
Modern Marvel from Storm has the same cover as the Virtual Energy but a symmetrical core.
I would think that if you are looking to replace your Reign Supreme (R2S Hybrid) you would go with a HyRoad, CrossRoad, or Frantic.
-
If you are throwing 15 lbs. I would say the hyroad. Both are at 2.57 rg and there differential
Are very close .48 and .46. However, if you are looking for a slightly stronger replacement look no further than the storm crossroad. Again the core comparison is not too far off between 2.56 and 2.57. And the differential of the crossroad is .52 compared to .48. That means by the numbers, the crossroad flare is a little bit more than the reign supreme.

I ended up getting a Frantic and a RG Berserk.
I'm keeping the Berserk dull with a pin down drilling and the Frantic polished with a pin up drilling.
Should give me a pretty good 1-2 punch. I will probably still travel with my reign pearl and Bash for when the lanes start to fry.
Thoughts?

I think you're really going to like the Frantic. I've had mine for a little while now and it is a beast when it comes to drier patterns. Easily one of the most angular balls I've thrown to date and yet it's controllable at the same time.
-
I'm pumped because I haven't gotten anything new since the supreme in 2010.
Can anybody think of any major holes here?
Berserk
Frantic
Regin pearl
Ebonite Bash
Sitting at home will still be my Virtual Gravity (Don't love it) and Reign supreme which is warn out.
I love being able to bring 4 pieces and my spare ball to events.

Only that you would need something to handle heavier conditions, if you like Hybrids, the Defiant Soul is very nice. I have one and it handles oil well, very clean and nice pinch at the end.
-
Berserk handles oil really well too. You could take it down to 2000 if you want it to handle a little more than it already does.
-
True. I'm glad I have a high rev rate and probably won't run into a ton of oil for the rest of the year. A big oil ball will probably be on my list for the next season.
I'm guessing the Berserk will be enough, especially because i've been working on squaring up and playing a more direct line.
-
I would lean towards the Berserk too. It's a good hybrid and you can easily change the surface if you need to handle more volume.
As for the big oil ball, the Defiant is definitely a good piece with how it reads early and rolls well in the back. Then you could always wait for the Storm Sync, which supposedly is even stronger...
