Thoughts....my X. Factor is drilled A Drilling and C for the MB
-
The Crux. It hit like a truck like the old X Factor.
-
Crux is not even close to the X Factor. The Crux is a solid heavy oil ball and the X Factor was a pearl that was more down-lane reacting. Night and Day.
The best options would be a Roto Grip Unhinged, Storm Hyroad pearl. They are both longer pearls with similar core shapes (although not asymmetric like the X Factor). The Roto Hyper cell skid would be closer as far as the core's RG and Diff numbers, but the cover is a little earlier rolling than an X Factor.

I had a few X-Factors and neither the Crux nor anything in the Hyroad line will act like the X-Factor. Nothing in the current line is very close to it, it had a medium RG and a very high differential. The Crux Pearl would technically be the closest, although the cover is stronger than Accu Tread, followed by the IQ Tour Fusion with a similar strength coverstock though both lower RG and differential, then the Rocket, which may actually be the closest with nearly identical RGs though a lower differential, though I feel the reaction shape is different. The Rocket is extremely clean through the fronts, with a very clean backend transition. The X-Factor still had good length and a strong backend, but it was more of a strong arc. Honestly the Marvel Pearl was the closest in terms of similar reaction shapes, but it has been discontinued.
Overall hook potential is either the IQ Fusion or Rocket, reaction shape is the Crux Pearl. I favor reaction shape over hook potential if it's close, so if I were looking for an X-Factor replacement, I would choose the Crux Pearl. It's a lot cleaner through the fronts and sharper on the back than I think people are expecting it to be.

Thanks ITZPS,
Yes, it's that strong Arc reaction that I am looking for and have from my X Factor..no jump.
So if I can find a Marvel Pearl would be #1? Next you feel the new Crux Pearl and then maybe The Rocket.......thoughts on Hyper Skid or any other Roto?
The Rocket info that I have seen so far perked my interest but I have two other Hybrid's in a Fusion and a Wrecker even though The Rocket should be a different shape then both of these.
thanks BG

I should have mentioned, that this house that I am struggling on is snappy AMF Syn so a strong coverstock might not be the best. Remember, my X Factor is quite old with lots of games on it, but very well maintained....it has to be weaker then when it was new and it has to be weaker than today's balls one would believe.

If they're snappy, I'd avoid the Rocket. It's already extremely clean on the backend, it's going to be much sharper. I'd almost still suggest the Crux Pearl and go with a bigger VAL angle. Something like 40x5x60 to minimize the flare and even the reaction out. Mine is more aggressive than the Rocket, but it's smoother overall. Rocket is very clean and sharp downlane, and while the Crux Pearl is still sharp and clean, it rolls heavier and is much smoother.

I had an X-Factor Ace and just got a Hyper Cell Skid. The Skid has a pin to PAP about 1/2 in stronger than my Ace had, a Mass Bias about 1/2 in closer to the VAL than my Ace and no balance hole (my ace had one a bit above the PAP). I have thrown the Skid only 4 games, but it definitely does not remind me of the Ace. It is more snappy off the spot on both Wood and Synthetic lanes.

As far as total motion on today's conditions, the Unhinged seems close in reaction shape, as someone else also stated. Problem with trying to find a current match of core, is that the covers are sssooooo much stronger on the high end balls than the Accutread pearl that was on the X Factor. In fact, the Reactor on the Tropical Breeze is a stronger cover than Accutread.
To get ERG or even R2S to be as clean and less responsive to friction like the Accutread, you will need to spend a long time on the ball spinner with Storm step 3 followed by a gallon of Reacta-Shine, LOL. But after a few games, the smoothness created will wear off, and the ball will be more responsive anyway. Just my $0.02.

Thanks for the thoughts
