Title: Building a storm and roto grip arsenal
Post by: Wowitsnew on October 08, 2018, 08:49:05 AM
I’m switching from 16 to 15 pounds and I’m building a arsenal for tournaments. I’m a stroker with matched speed and rev. I have pretty low tilt.  I have a storm drive and am building around it. So far I have decide on a Halo for long patterns, debating whether a intense, intense fire, or a hyper cell fused would be better as a long and strong ball, drive as a symmetrical solid, and an iq tour as a bench mark. Which shiny asym is the best in storm/ roto famiy? Also I’m looking to add one for ball any suggestions?

Also consider a Idol on Roto’s side; Special piece for a variety of conditions.

All out show off if you can still find them are extremely good rolling peices as are the hustle line

I'm thinking for myself personally that the Idol drilled really strong would be better for long patterns (46 ft) over the Halo. The Idol has the same cover as the Halo, but has particles added to it.

The Hot Cell has proven to be a winner on short sport patterns for me, while I'm still trying to figure out the HCF but has proven better for me on short patterns.

I'll get a Halo over the Surelock and give it a spin, but I've noticed that the Urethane shape of the Hot Cell is more favorable for me and I've seen a pin down layout on an Idol make the same shape.

My stats are similar to yours but my tilt is much higher.
Halo has the same "particles" in the cover like the Idol. And I agree, the Idol with a larger VAL and surface is a very urethane-like shape.

Talk with some of the higher average/tournament bowlers in your area, ask them where they go to get equipment. If you keep hearing the same shop then that "should" be a good place to start.
A good pro shop operator should be able to watch you bowl, find your PAP, approx axis rotation, tilt, RPM's and recommend an arsenal with proper drilling for your ball roll.

Remember, a ball that works for one bowler may not for you. I'm the only bowler in my area that really likes the All-Out as it rolls perfect for my speed, rev rate (4X4X1)

If I was building the perfect 6 ball arsenal with both companies, I'd go Sure Lock, PhysiX, Idol, IQ Tour Solid, Hyroad/Hyroad X (depending on what shape you prefer), and a Hustle Ink.  Sure Lock is still king of hook, Halo doesn't quite equal the sum of its parts unfortunately, not a bad ball, just not as good as a Sure Lock.  PhysiX has already made me quite a bit of money and just does everything right, it's virtually all I've thrown everywhere the last couple weeks.  Idol is like a beefy IQ Tour, always keeps you in the pocket and out of trouble, IQ Tour is the ultimate benchmark, Hyroad OR Hyroad X are super versatile, I find the Hyroad to be better right of 4th arrow, Hyroad X is better left of 3rd when you can hammer on it at the bottom, and the Hustle Ink is Onyx Vibe level stuff, the level of performance for the price is just insane.

Depending on tournaments you bowl, if any have a short pattern or lower volume, it's very hard to not have a urethane of some kind in the bag.

I’d be hard pressed not to have a pitch black and phaze II in the lineup.

Physix looks like Virtual Gravity 2018.

Can't lose reaction.

I would seriously look at the Hyper Cell Fused. My A game is down and in up 5 (or in that area). My H/C Fused works perfect for me using that line. It is so smooth and predictable, doesn't jump off the spot. It's netted me 2 300's so far.  My arsenal also includes the Halo - Intense - IQ Tour solid -- Soniq -- Rising Star

Metal, that is my preferred game also.  What's the layout on your HCF?
