Title: Cleaning a Reign of Power
Post by: valanthekayland on February 11, 2014, 11:53:00 AM
Hello everyone...I just inherited a Reign of Power from a friend so I can try out a newish reactive resin ball.  I have some Reacta Clean that I use after every set of games I bowl...however, I'm curious about longer term care.  I know that people generally use other things to help keep newer bowling balls rejuvenated...and since this was given to me I'm not entirely sure about the current state as far as when the last time it was resurfaced etc.

I'm just looking for any information on what type of care outside of just cleaning the ball with Reacta Clean after 3 games should be done to keep the ball in as prime condition as I can manage.  Any help with products + frequency of use would be immensely useful.  Thank you.

If you don't know how many games he has on it, I would suggest taking it to your proshop and have them bake it and resurface it to original factory sanding.  From that point, you can follow the manufacturers recommendations for keeping it like new.

My general practices for matte equipment:
After 3 game set: Reacta-clean

After 10-ish games: Ebonite Powerhouse Clean n' Dull (sometimes also touch up last grit abralon depending on wear and tear to cover)

After 20-ish games: Touch up last surface grit (1000 abralon for your ROP) and de-oil. I use the at home hot water bath method that seems to work well for me.

After 50-60-ish games: De-oil and full resurface per storm's recommended procedure (on their website).

Hope this helps.
