Hi guys! i was wondering if there was a ball that was the closest to the lightning storm that has been released and is still in production

WoW!! Talk about a "blast from the past".

I don't think there's any solid coverstocks around that are as weak as Curelyon, that was on the Lightning.
One of the closer ones was the Solid Tropical Breeze, which is also discontinued BUT its coverstock, called Reactor, can be much flippier once it is polished.

Not in the Storm line but Strike King is close to a light bulb core. Motiv has the Ascent which has similar specs. Both are pearls, though.

Had a Lightning Storm. For my 2 cents those coverstocks a LOT stronger than Curelyon ever was.
Several balls have cores as weak as the Lightning's was, but none have coverstocks now as weak as the Lightning's.
A few discontined balls were as weak as the Lightning, like the Strike King's predecessor, the Slingshot. That ball is the most recently discontinued ball that would come close to replicating a Lightning, but it was a pearl whereas the Lightning was a solid.

I guess it depends on if the OP wants a ball that reacts on current lane conditions like the Lightening Storm currently does or if he wants a ball that reacts like the Lightening Storm on conditions it saw during its heyday.

Since you guys mentioned stuff on how it currently reacts, how about something jt reacted during its heyday?

I'm not sure what you mean.

Like its not strong now but it was then.

Like I remember the c300 formula being the strongest ball I have ever thrown at the time, I could not keep it right of the headpin. Now its not so strong on today's conditions.
Currently I have a Ebo Xcel, I remember it being pretty wicked off the spot. Punched it up a few years ago, I got 3 games on it, it rolls like its urethane and rings corner pins like no other as it labors on the back ends. Looks cool tho. Doesnt do my memories any justice on today's conditions.

The original Thunder road pearl (curelyon) was toe to toe with my Triton Elite pearl, which was probably some form of superflex. I would think a Freeze might be close, even if its only superflex by name?

The current Tropical Breeze has an almost identical core. Densities are probably different though.
