Title: code black vs code red
Post by: Albright on May 02, 2017, 09:18:51 PM
I was gonna get the code black to go with my timeless know I see there coming out with the code red  what one do you guys recommend should I get the code black or wait for the code red? What would fit with my timeless better?

The only difference is R2S Pearl vs R2S Hybrid

So what does that really mean for us non-technical knowledged bowlers to get a better understanding the differnce between code black and code red?

R2S pearl is more skid/flippy compared to R2S Hybrid. Hybrid is solid/pearl so picks up sooner and is cleaner on backend. R2S pearl gets through fronts and mids cleanly and takes off in the backend.

And for what it's worth:

Timeless = R2S Hybrid
Code Black = R2S Pearl
Code Red = R2S Hybrid

So the Timeless and Code Red share the same coverstock, which might put them closer together than the Timeless and Code Black. Depends on the reaction you get out of your Timeless though. If it likes what I've seen around my area I might go with the Code Red and change the surface of it to something like 2000 grit.

The motor in the Code Red is going to make that hybrid cover stock act differently than it does wrapped around the Timeless.
Same cover - yes.
Same reaction - no way.

Like I said, it depends on the reaction of the Timeless. Balls react differently for everybody and it's not just dependent on cores. I've seen balls with similar coverstocks but with asymmetric and strong symmetric cores react fairly similarly for people. Wouldn't surprise me if this was the case with the Timeless and Code Red... again, depending on the person and what the first ball does for that person.

They ARE different colors too..  heard many people claim this can make a small difference.

For the hybrid formulation, wonder if they will keep the pearl/solid ratio the same or make some small tweaks to get more separation from the timeless/code black?

These are they types of questions that float through my head...

Honestly don't see why they would need to make tweaks to the cover. The Code Red spins up so much faster and has a bigger change of direction.
