Title: Code Red and Code Black
Post by: mrwizerd on July 20, 2017, 12:47:49 PM
If you have one, do you need the other?  Is there a reason to have both?

There is a tournament that I will be attending in January that will be selling the Code Red for $145 drilled (includes inserts & slug).  I currently own a Code Black which is giving me trouble when deciding if I should buy one or not.

Thoughts?

Please don't say I should get one just because its a good deal.

it is a really good deal that I don't think I'd pass up.

They can definitely co exist together with different layouts and surfaces. Me personally, I think the Code Red is overall a better ball but that's mainly because I've had better success with R2S hybrid and solid than R2S Pearl

It depends on what else you have besides the Code Black too. In a vacuum you can easily have both of those balls in your bag considering different surfaces and drillings.

I would have a hard time passing up that good of a deal though. And yes, I have a problem for when things go on sale... :)

A deal that good, I agree with the rest, I would take them up on it. Also, if you have a Storm demo day at an alley nearby, maybe you could get an opportunity to test roll one prior?

There is a ball demo/clinic next month and Storm's name is on the flier.  Hopefully they will have the Code Red on hand for me to try.  I will also take my Code Black for comparison.

I was able to throw the Code Red at the ball demo.  There is a strength difference between the Red & Black, different layouts are required but I don't think a surface adjustment is necessary.
