Title: Code X v. Phaze 2 v. Idol v. Hyroad Nano...?
Post by: AlonzoHarris on April 25, 2019, 12:09:22 PM
So for folks that have thrown these pieces, assist me in breaking down the differences you see.

To make this not such a broad question as well, I have the Code X and Phaze 2. I've considered adding either the Idol or Hyroad Nano(before it's completely gone) but I would prefer to go with the one that will give me the biggest separation in the bag.

Thoughts?

i see a lot of overlap between the Idol, Phase 2 and Hyroad Nano.  with all 3 being strong cover symetricals.  if it is just a choice between the Idol and the Hyroad Nano, i suppose it defaults to the Nano since the core will be the most different and is a 2 piece ball

Phaze 2 is the most versatile and is cleaner with more down lane motion than the Idol which is good but more condition specific. Code X is super conditional for me but didn't give me angle issues like the Hyroad Nano so these just don't matchup often enough to stay in the bag for me.

I absolutely love my Hyroad Nano. Don't think the shape is even close to the other balls. Much longer and much stronger of the spot. I've liked it at all surfaces but 4-5000 has been money for me when going deep and slow hooking it when my Fused at 3-4000 has been burning up and not turning the corner

I know how much you love your hyroad pearl Alonzo. Go with the nano, it will fit nicely in your arsenal just above your x. Nano, x and pearl. A nice 3 hyroad arsenal.

Thanks Geigs, yep the Hyroad Pearl is my favorite ball, so it does seem fitting to try the Nano I guess haha.

What hole/spot are you trying to fill again Alonzo?

Honestly no hole in particular. Just interested in both pieces and looking to play with something new.

Even though I have my Code Black between my Marvel Pearl and Phaze 2, I do feel like I could put a symmetric solid between them, or Hybrid Idol when it comes out.

Have had 2 Phase 2s, and a Hyroad Nano.  Both are nice balls, and have  some similarity out of the box.  The nano seems to get a little more angular and tames down as it lane polishes.  Phase 2 retains its look as it lane polishes.   I can play to the right with it on shorter patterns and it is more controlable off the end of the oil.

I have not thrown the Phase 2 but would have to agree with what I have seen from others throwing it. It retains the same look, even with lane shine! Whereas the Nano is an absolute monster at box finish. Extremely angular but long at the same time. As you put lane shine on it, you will be moving right with the ball and the angularity starts to soften into a strong arc! I find that freshening it up with an old, used green pad usually gets it back close to that box finish look on the lanes.

Which is why I'm, going to get another so I have that option of playing left and right! One dull and one shined!
