I need helping picking an arsenal for my PBA shot league
« on: April 11, 2008, 06:08:34 PM »
I decided to move back up to 15lb equipment. I currently have a 14lb Sidewinder and a 14lb Avalanche Pearl that I'm going to give to my brother in law. I need new stuff and I want to go mostly with Storm although I do like the looks of the Complete NV by Ebonite. Anyways can I get some suggestions on what Storm stuff would be good on certain PBA shots I'm going to encounter in my league. Also how many bowling balls do I need to buy to cover most of the lane conditions?

Though not technically storm I would go with a Cell. It covers the longer heavy oil shots.

I agree with the Cell.  I've heard they're great for the heavier and longer stuff.  I would also get an Original Agent and a Special Agent, as I've also heard those are amazingly consistent on the PBA shots.  And don't forget plastic

ICE STORM - SPARE BALL!

This is the most important, yet always overlooked, ball in your arsenal!

Also, be prepared to modify surfaces to obtain the best results.  Having everything chalked or polished won't serve you well.  I'd invest in some abralon pads and polish to be able to manage your arsenal week to week.

I learned these lessons last summer.  Thankfully, the league I was on last summer, used the same pattern for 3 weeks straight before switching so you could make adjustments to your lane play strategy and equipment, to improve week to week.

Good luck and have fun!

USE CONTROL DRILLINGS!!

I have a lot of hand and on the Cheetah and Viper patterns I can't get it to the pocket hardly. Some of this is due to surface prep. could have weakend it but I don't have the time or money to do surface week in and out..lol

But if you have high revs and moving up in weight is going to slow your ball speed, I would recommend something that has a weak drill with an easy to adjust surface, polish for shorter patterns then sand for longer to help if you keep it in the oil like I like to do.
