Title: Consensus on Nova
Post by: BeerLeague on December 01, 2022, 10:24:25 AM
What are your thoughts?

My opinion of the ball is it has really never been the Nut, but its not horrible.  It's not overly aggressive and its controllable but does seem to struggle in any real oil. On house walls, it seems to be good on the fresh playing the track but once you are forced to move left into the cliff, it's a crap shoot... you're going to hit the pocket but its a mystery how many will fall.

In short, it looks good and controllable going down the lane .. almost too good as it's hard to put down.  I have a hunch the cover is borderline too weak for the core to make it a real versatile piece, like I consider the OG Physix, or Zen Master, or Zen.

Yes. Having a R2X base cover does make it a bit weaker than you would expect in oil. That's why the Super Nova is such a good compliment/step up from it. The Nova seems like it's kind of in that benchmark range.

Burner Solid for me... Somehow it just hangs on and carries for me.

Waiting for the follow up to the burner solid, and D/C'd electrify solid

It depends on what I'm bowling on but if I want to stay in the same zone, the Zen Master, iQ Tour Nano Pearl or iQ Tour ... if I move in, Zen Soul, Zen, or Altered Reality.   I have a several choices.  I will only take 6 rocks with me when tournament bowling and that just depends on lane surface what I bring.
