Cracked Balls
« on: March 20, 2016, 03:38:26 PM »
In the last five months I have had three Storm balls crack completely around the ball while resting in a climate controlled environment and rotated every month..  I tried to find if there was any similarities like the same coverstock, all symmetrical vs. asymmetrical, solids vs. hybirds vs. pearls, same cores, or that the balls came from the same line e.g. Premier, Master, Thunder, etc. that the balls might have shared, I could not find any similarities other than all three were produced from 2012-2014 time period.
Lost the IQ Tour Edition Solid, Firestorm Pearl, and Crux Hybird.  I'm going to Staples tomorrow and buy some clears plastic bags for small desk wastepaper cans and put all my many remaining balls in plastic to see if that stops what has occurred.  It's worth a try as you all know how expensive these balls are.

Has anyone experienced any complete cracking with Motiv balls, except for the Tag which apparently has had a reported  cracking problem.
I ask because I own seven Motiv balls sitting right next to the Storm balls I lost and I have yet to have a single Motiv ball crack. What is all of your experience with Motiv cracking or not cracking?

Primal rage,Primal rage remix, Venom shock, 2 Forzas, artic sniper, venom panic, revolt vengenace, rebel tank zero cracks only crack i ever had was a Motiv tag. it was thrown hit the lane and ball cracked

This is an overdue topic for Storm/Roto Grip. I'm really bummed out. I have an eight-ball rack inside my house in a climate controlled environment. It has 2 Storm, 2 Roto Grip, 1 Brunswick, 2 Lane #1, and 2 Columbia balls on it. The 2 Roto grip balls and 1 Storm have all three completely cracked in the last 3 months. About a year ago, another Storm ball cracked. What a waste.

Ironically, I have left the three other balls (1 Storm) that I use most-often in my car trunk through temperatures ranging from -25 to 90 degrees in the last year and they are perfectly fine. So much for don't expose your bowling balls to cold weather. I've never had a ball crack from leaving them in my car through a WI winter.

I've had my Guru Mighty, Guru, Crux and Vivid crack on me in the last month or so. And they were all in a controlled environment. Motiv Vengeance, Forza, Forza Redline, Octane, Tag, and a Roto Grip Silver Streak Pearl and no cracks.

In the last 12 months my son and I have lost four to cracking.  He lost his Critical Theory last year and his Optimus Solid ten days ago.  The Optimus Solid was in his current arsenal and was in his bag.  I lost my IQ Pearl and IQ Fusion in the span of 5 days in June.  Both of the IQ's were kept in the basement on ball cups.  I'd used the IQ Fusion a week earlier and decided to put it back in the rotation.  Went out for another practice session and it left my hand intact but came back cracked completely around the ball from the bottom of the thumb to about an inch from the middle finger.  I've since started to put all of the balls not in use in plastic bags.  Here's to hoping that works.

I own and have owned a lot of different stuff and from my point of view, the Storm/Roto stuff tends to crack more than any other brand.

What's worse - cracked Nuts or an oil-saturated Hole Pounder??
