I have a question on wether the Crux pearl or the HCS plays better up the boards more than the other?

It depends on the oil pattern and the browser's release. Both could work well it just depends

My understanding after just attended a Storm Matchmaker; is that the Skid is slightly more angular on the backend than the Crux Pearl. With that said; you would want to do the Crux over the Hyper Cell Skid. But as Star stated. It depends on oil pattern and your release.

I can play up with my Skid. If the lanes let me, I have played between 5 and 7 and as long as I release the ball properly, this shot is deadly. So I always see if this shot is playable. The Skid has been my go to ball since it was released!

I hope the OP doesn't mind but I didn't want to start a new thread. I'm just curious why I don't see more Crux Pearls? Can anybody compare it to past releases?

I've thrown both and watched both thrown by a few other people. For me the HCS was stronger overall. A lot more backend and sharper than the crux pearl. From the others I have seen its the same for them as well. Both carry, hit and continue well through the pins. For some other people I've seen the crux pearl as a tad weaker and able to play longer because of that. The HCS will carry from as far deep as you want, just forces you out quicker.

I eventually ended up getting both balls and found that my HCS will roll up a little earlier and I will have better carry early on but my crux will be better for me when the fronts are gone and I need a little more length. However, my HCS is stacked for the most part and my crux pearl has its mass bias kicked way out. I do feel that the skid is more angular off the spot by nature and if I had them drilled the same the skid would be more off the spot. Overall they both work and will drive through the pins
