The PERFECT storm arsenal
« on: April 24, 2010, 07:28:30 AM »
I am looking to rebuild an old outdated arsenal and im very impressed with Storm Equipment.  MY question is what would be the perfect arsenal for me (Heavy, heavy medium, medium to light) I dont know what my rev rate is but my speed is around 16 and up.  I like to play the track area but I can move inside if needed.  Open to any suggestions.  Thanks everyone I appreciate it!

Virtual Gravity (drilled for a bit of length)
Hy-Road (drilled somewhat aggressively)
Fast (drilled normal)
Plastic (drilled for maximum flare potential)

How big do you want your arsenal to be?  3, 5, 8?

I don't know how helpful this may be, but have you ever considered buying used equipment?  There is nothing wrong with it and may actually allow you to add some more pieces.

Yes I have actually  Thats why I am trying to plan out a good arsenal first before I go buying ya know.  But no I have no problem buying used equipment as long as its in decent shape.  So far, im looking at an Invasion, ROF, Natural, Hyroad, possibly a VG and a Fast.  I had a VG drilled pin above my ring finger and I just was not happy with it. Maybe it was the drilling...

So 5 or 6, I would go

Invasion
RoF
Reign
Hy-Road
Fast
Spare ball (if you're not counting a spare ball or don't carry one, then Natural)

Well I can't give you an entire arsenal suggestion since I have never seen you bowl nor do i have any idea of what you have tried and liked/hated but I can give you some "gotta haves"......

Any all-Storm arsenal MUST contain the following 4 balls regardless of who it is for....

1. Natural...there is no better ball out there for ironing out wet/dry or over/under conditions

2. Furious...so incredibly versatile that it must be in there

3. HyRoad...again so ridiculously versatile that you could even make a case for drilling up 2 of them with different layouts and cover preps

4. Reign...quite possibly the best skid/flip ball Storm has ever produced

I don't know how you can leave out the Virtual Gravity on this list.

Virtual Gravity, OOB
Virtual Gravity polished, or Virtual Energy
Fast or Hyroad
Natural

I prefer a VG polished with a worn 4000 abralon pad over my virtual energy when the fresh shot is transitioning. Don't have to worry about it turning the corner in the carry down.

One caveat, natural should have a warning label on it, "for bowlers that can repeat shots only." Not for spray and pray type bowlers, but it rolls consistently and I have not seen a situation where the lanes were too dry to use it. Left it out of my bag Sunday night and it probably cost our team two grand or so in the roll offs, as we ended up placing 3rd instead of first or second. Still sick over it.
