Discuss the Reacta Skuff, Reacta Foam, and Reacta Wipes here
« on: August 16, 2012, 11:49:07 AM »
Curious if anyone has tried either yet?

I put React-Skuff on a Defiant that seems to "lane shine" rather easily. When I finished, the ball looked like I had touched it up with a 3000 abralon pad. I did notice the polish is very gritty almost textured.

I used the Reacta Foam on a couple of balls that had the belt marks on them. It took them off pretty easily and lef the balls nice and tacky to the touch.

I haven't ran down any Reacta Wipes yet, but was an avid user of the Turbo Strike Wipes. The Turbos originally were very wet. I could clean 2-3 balls if they have light dirt on them like maybe if 1 or 2 of them only hit the lanes for a few shots each. I would have to put some elbow grease into getting the belt marks off. Over the next few months it seemed like the wipes were not as wet and did not last. I have a tendency to take a good chunk of the summer off so stuff like this sits in my bag all summer in the back of the pro shop.

I am just curious if anyone has used Storms version and do they stay moist longer than Turbos.

I've used the Storm wipes, and I thought they were ok.My issues were that they are small, and within a month the whole pack had dried out. They did work well however, until they dried out.

Were you using the wipes in the resealable pouch or the ones in the flip top container? I think the ones in the flip top are small by design.

The ones I am referring to are the same size as the Turbo Strike Wipes.

We are just waiting to get in our order and I will try them out in comparison and get back to everyone

Also update on the Defiant performance after Reacta Skuff. I did notice it picked up just a little sooner than it had been doing with the lane shine. This tells me that Reacta Skuff might be a nice way to "extend" the sanding of the cover for another set or so until you can get on a spinner.

I used the Fire Road that I used the Reacta Foam on and it had a slight bit more move on the backend to start. We were on the a 39' pattern and had a slight carry down effect for awhile.

I am going to use the foam on a newer cover Virtual Energy closeout I keep as a cherished toy.  ;D

I use Reacta Skuff on balls that I want to stay dull in between sandings.  Be careful though, it does actually modify the surface a bit.  I found you want to use Reacta Skuff fairly lightly on all 4 sides in order not to significantly alter the surface.  I use it regularly on my Marvel and my Dark Thunder and they stay very consistent.

I have some of the Storm Reacta-Wipes coming. I will post a review of them once I get them in stock

Finally got a chance to use the Reacta-Wipes towelettes yesterday morning after a good 2 1/2 hour practice session. The tear top was nice because it actually tore right down the perforated line for a clean edge. The press-lock style seal was great also because a little pressure is all that I needed to get an air tight closure.

The first towel I pulled out was nice and wet to the touch. I cleaned up a dull Defiant and was able to get the belt marks and visible dirt right off with light to minimal effort. The towel was still wet enough to touch up a factory surface Fire Road that I had thrown very lightly during the session. This ball had belt marks from a league set three nights ago and cleaned them right off. When finished the cloth was very dirty looking, almost a greyish black color.

This sort of cleaning performance was what I originally had gotten with Turbo Strike Wipes when they first came out. I took some of the singlets and passed them out to customers that we cleaned ball surfaces for regularly to help promote the product. About a year after the initial release, the Turbos just didn't seem as wet and dried quickly. On an ironic note, I pulled out a pack of Turbo Strike Wipes that I had bought about 3 weeks ago to compare to the Reacta-Wipes and the Strike Wipes were dried out completely.  I am not sure what happened to Turbo's packaging, but it is not working any more for me.

I get the impression that the Reacta-Wipes will be suited for a person who may not be the biggest ball maintainer around, but the ease to get the wipe out and the potential to do 2 complete balls with one wipe might make this one sell very well. Plus it should be a good cleaner to use until it is time to touch the surface up as it does not leave a residue or shine a dull surface.

Nice review, Mike. Thanks.

Sounds like a good and convenient cleaner.

Any idea if the cleaner in Reacta Wipes is the same cleaner in Reacta-Clean?
$11.95 for 20 wipes, about 2 balls per wipe is a lot of money.

Charlest I am not 100% sure but recall hearing something to this effect when I went to the Defiant seminar back in January. I would have to check to be exact.

I think Storm is going after the customer that is not savvy enough to buy there own Abralon or keep cleaning supplies in their bags. Of course when something is convenient, it always seems to cost a little more.

I like Storm's cleaning products and think that since that is how they broke into the bowling business, these will always be good and well thought out products. I still think the best ball cleaned hands down I have had is the Lanemaster I-Tac product. Taking lessons with Ron Hatfield years ago had some perks and the I-Tac was the best. Of course you need a military style gas mask because of the fumes, but it takes EVERYTHING off the ball. Heck it even starts to melt the grips. LOL :)

I use Skuff on all my dull surface after 15 games and my first Defiant I got at release time still looks almost new... Used about 150 games. Reacta foam works wells with all balls and remove grime and belt marks rather easy. Does not leave a filmy residue like other cleaners out there. For my wipes, I actually had a package get a little dry and I just sprayed some reacta cleaner into it and it freshened them right up.
