Well tonight was cool.....(storm related)
« on: May 06, 2010, 02:28:17 PM »
My buddy called me up tonight at about 5:45 asking me if I would go bowling with him tonight to take advantage of our 3 free games per day. While there I was watching another fairly decent bowler. He claims to be a Storm Amature Staff member...I don't know who this guy is so I won't argue that.

Anyway, while bowling he walked over to where I was at and watched me roll my Natural. Asked if the storm bag, and the 3 storm balls were mine. Said they were. He walked away and returned about 10 minutes later. He presented me with a Storm XXXtreme. He said there was maybe a seasons worth of bowling on the ball and it was mine if I wanted it. I looked at the drilling and took it! Then went and shot 299 with it in my next game. lol

I went tonight to practice on hitting my marks, wasn't looking to acquire a 4th ball.

The best part about this is, I was looking for this very same ball 3 months ago!

I absolutley hated the xxxtreme.  The original x-factor, duece and xxx factor were great balls in my hand.  I even prefered the fear factor over the xtreme.  Never matched up to me, I forgot who I gave it too.  Man i hated that pos lol.

Your not the 1st one to tell me the XXXtreme was a total POS. I've had 3 now, the only reason why I sold the 1st 2 was because someone else offered me a deal that I couldn't pass up. Everyone I've had rolled good for me, then again I'm one of those guys who absolutely loves the cetain balls that don't work for a lot of people.

I have a XXXtreme, and it is still my first ball out of the bag.  The reaction I get is very smooth, and it is extrememly easy to read the lane with.  It's very versatile for me as well being able to use it on a fresh shot playing more up the boards, but when they dry out, I can still move in and swing the ball.  I've actually been looking at something to replace it, but each time I'm about to pull the trigger and get something different, I throw a good set or have a good week of sets with this ball.

That is why I was happy he was giving it to me. I know the ball reaction, it will fit into my lineup. It has more backend then my Gravity Shift.

I have a Urethane, R2S Pearl Reactive with Inverted 2-piece with Fe² Ionized Core, R2S Pearl Reactive with Shape-Lock™ HD, and now ACCU-Tread Solid Reactive with RAD3™.

These 4 balls complete my whole aresenal. Yeah it's a fairly dated lineup but they all work perfectly.

You are soooo right. I was given this same ball(xxxtreme) and absolutely hated it with a stacked 4x4 drilling on it. It rolled terrible.

Rolled so bad, I put the ball down and didn''t go back to it for a year. Took it out to practice and had a revelation. Redrilled it.

Put a pin over bridge drilling on it, with the cg/mb kicked out ever so slightly, and suddenly this ball becomes a monster!

Guy saw me bowling with it one day and offered me $100 for it, right there on the spot. I sold it, for sure.

Too bad, because I knew that I was gonna put up some big numbers with that ball as drilled. But not a bad take, considering I had paid nothing for the ball at all!
