Ball between the Spit Fire and Special Agent
« on: August 13, 2007, 07:26:43 AM »
I'm thinking of getting a new ball before the season starts.

The balls I usually carry are:
Track Rule GP2
Special Agent
Spit Fire
Zone Classic
+ a condition specific ball based on the house and/or condition

Ball spec's are in my profile.

I think I could really use something between the Spit Fire and Special Agent, especially on sport or tournament conditions. This is really when I see a huge difference between the Spit Fire and Special Agent.

Any suggestions on what would be a good fit here? I'd like something that hooks a little earlier than the Spit Fire and doesn't roll as heavy as a Special Agent. Maybe a Shift? I'd appreciate any suggestions on equipment and drillings. I also wouldn't mind hearing what a Storm staffer has to say either

I think the Secret is going to be too close to the Special Agent.  I'd go with a regular Agent.

The regular agent would be perfect for u. It still rolls late, just not as late as the spit fire and is earlier than the special agent. Perfect fit in my opinion

I like the regular Agent idea.

Another vote for the regular Agent...love the ball and it compliments my Spit Fire very nicely.

The Agent.  I have an Agent and a Special Agent.  They compliment each other very well.

Thanks for the replies. I was thinking Shift originally because it has the new R2S cover but an Agent might be a good fit too.

For those that have an Agent in addition to a Special or Spit Fire - did you drill the Agent the same or different? How much stronger/weaker is an Agent compared to a Spit Fire or Special? The reason I ask is on a THS my Spit Fire and Special only play 5 boards different most of the time, so they compliment each other well. On sport/tournament/pba league shots I'm seeing more of a 7-10+ board difference between them.

I would go with the T-Road Pearl...
This ball can be used on just about any pattern from the Shark pattern
to the House pattern...

I have a T-Road Pearl and I agree with Mark that it can be used on a variety of conditions.  But I would use it in place of a Spit Fire instead of a complement to it.   A T-Road Pearl could work (with the right layout), it woule depend on how the Spit Fire and Special Agent are drilled.

I have the same layout on my Special Agent and Agent.  There is about a 5 board difference on most patterns.  Sometimes a few more.

I've heard from others the same thing that CHawk said, the T-Road pearl would be more of a replacement for the Spit Fire and I'm not looking to replace it.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm leaning towrads the Agent right now.
