I just don’t get this ball. If I try to start out with it, I have a terrible look with it to the point that I hate the ball. But twice now, I have used it as a “what the hell... nothing else is working†ball and had a good look. Best look in the house actually. most of the time, it is like the ball either doesn’t want to finish, then when I try to adjust into the shot, it nose dives. Tonight, I was able to move deep and float it out to the breakpoint, and the ball was money. What are you guys seeing out of this ball? What is it good on and how do you play the lanes with it? It has me so confused and I can’t figure out when it works, except for when nothing else does work

It's a very different ball, it reminds me a ton of the Street Fight, but stronger. It doesn't really rev, so it's all cover and differential. I've found it works best when the lanes get choppy because it doesn't overreact on anything, it blends wet/dry pretty well, or when you have a ton of friction on the backend that you need to calm down, then it works pretty well. It's a specific use ball, it's not just a pull it out of the bag and use it because you want to type ball. As long as you keep that in mind and watch for specific circumstances to use it in, I think you'll be alright.

Luke, I'm a little confused by your statement "It doesn't really rev, so it's all cover and differential".
Granted the cover (R2S Nano) & differential (.050) fit your comment, but the "doesn't rev" part seems to be opposite of Storm's marketing statement which is "Dual Drive core resulting in faster revving action with higher level of energy transfer at the pins".
Can you clarify the revving characteristics per Storm's statement. Thanks.

^^^ what you haven't bought a ball, and have it react differently than the manufacturers intent? It seems like every other or every 3rd ball I buy should be titled stuff like this:
"Sneaky strong"
"Less midlane than advertised"
Etc etc...
Luke's giving honest feedback of what the ball does foe him, I'm pretty sure. The drive I see at league is exactly what the OP describes. Not a fresh oil ball.

A ball with 2.57 RG isn't going to spin up off your hand. Hence the cover and diff comment. Make numbers your friend, not words.

So it appears Storm's marketing hype is wrong...….again. I'm still smarting from reality vs. the hype of the catalyst core used in the Crux.
Thank God we have a poster like Luke to set the record straight on individual ball performance for Storm products..

Bowling ball marketing is rarely right 😂 if we didn’t have people like Luke to tell us how it really is, how could we really make an informed decision! Thank you all for confirming my suspicions on what this ball really performs like! I’m not crazy. I really thought that r2s nano would make the ultimate benchmark ball

Og Crux was garbage
They didn't get that line right until the alpha

Well yeah it is garbage! It won’t strike unless you throw it through peanut better!

Alpha Crux was a ball I regret never getting....

OG Crux was & is still one of my favorites. Still use it almost every week & have a new one on the shelf for a rainy day. Just matched up well for me I guess.

Maybe "rev" is the wrong word, maybe it's "roll." Both it and the Timeless are rather consistent on the backend . . if you have the kind of revs they designed the ball for. The mistakes with these two weren't in design or execution, they were in marketing, and having people like Diandra saying that old people and young people, and dogs and cats and hamsters all needed a Timeless. The Timeless was ONLY good for me late in a longer format sweeper block when I needed something that was going to clear the heads and not really think about doing much until the end of the pattern, then it was great. It was however absolute nails for the crowd it was designed for, when people came in asking about it, the only two answers I gave were absolutely or absolutely not. The Drive is "better," mainly due to the Nano factor I'm pretty sure, but it blends the end of the pattern more and is rounder, but it's still a niche ball for anyone under a 500 rev rate
-
Thank you Luke for your honest clarification of both balls. Please don't ever quit BR, we need you cause we sure don't get this type of solid factual info from 99.0% of other staffers. You're the Man!

My gosh, where would we be without Tamer, and Luke?

Average Joe Reviews in addition to Luke & Tamer. Top three in my book.

That’s right; I forgot about angel too, good catch.

i love my drive because i think i know how to use it properly. the cover is stupid strong. i have my benchmark super early chugging ball and this ball is longer and stronger than it on medium and long patterns, house and sport patterns. on sport i use it on the longer side of medium patterns and fresh long patterns, on house i could use it if i played 3rd arrow or more in if i wanted but i dont like playing that far in on the fresh so it generally stays in the bag.
like luke was saying if you know where this ball fits and how to use it, its great. but i guess that applies to any ball. the higher RG lets it clear the heads but the nano cover lets it blend the pattern front to back
