Attitude Shift

I'm getting ready to drill up an attitude shift.  I was looking for a strong solid reactive ball for my "oiler".  I was thinking a 4.5" pin, 3" key and 3" buffer.  Any things to watch out for or avaoid when drilling up this ball?  Any layouts that seem to roll exceptionally well?  Any comments?

The Attitude Shift was the first ball I've ever drilled for myself, and I drilled it stacked leverage, to stay pretty basic with it.  It is a very strong ball, and will fit well as an oil ball.  My other Shifts I've gotten a little more creative with, going with a 45 degree layout on my original Shift, and haven't had any problems with it.  The Shift core seems to be fairly driller friendly so long as you don't get crazy with it.  The layout you're thinking of sounds fairly conservative, so I think you'll really enjoy the hook and reaction of it.  Good luck.

thnx... I'm drilling it up tomorrow.  Although I rarely need something as aggressive as I'm expecting the attitude to be... there is a chance for an upcoming tournament that I might (plus I found this one at a decent price).   Plus.. its always fun to drill up new equipment.  Hopefully (providing shops not too busy), I'll have a chance to throw it some and take a few photos...

I received the ball in the mail last night.. as the "luck of the draw" would have it, mine ended with the marked cg being out of line with the pin/mb almost 90deg and to the right.  However, the pin to cg distance is only 2".. so I think I will be alright.. just need a little larger weight hole... photos to come soon.

Ok.. Here is a photo of the ball prior to drilling:

I layed the ball out with a 4 X 4 and a 2.5" pin buffer.  Weighed it and discovered that it only had 2 oz side and 1.5 oz finger prior to drilling, so figured that was a managable weight and went ahead and drilled it up.  Photo of drilled ball is in profile (along with updated photos of other equipment).  Unfortunately, the shop was swamped and I didn't get an chance to throw it at all...  It really looks like an aggressive surface/ball.  Should cover a fiar amount of oil.. Tues night PBA pattern is scorpion.. so I may try to throw it for at least the first game .

Wow, that looks like a pro-cg ball for a lefty.  Let us know how that ball reacts.  Maybe GG really "Nomadduh"?LOL!!

I finally had a chance to throw the attitude last night during my pba league.  I left the ball in box finish (2000 abralon) and bowling on the scorpion pattern.  All I can say is WOW, that ball is strong!  Standing about 28, swinging the ball out to around 9-10 at the break point.. the ball was all mid-lane.  Very strong read/set up and acring finish.  With my Code and NVS, I was about 5-7 boards further right and playing the same break point area... however with slight misses, both would blow through the break point.  Not a whole lot of miss area with either (hang outside or run high).  With the attitude, I had a couple board area at the break point, but still managed to miss a few shots outside..  Ended up shooting 220, 230, 170 (we switch pairs after each game and caught a significantly different pair the last game after making the turn).  For me, there was just enough oil on the scorpion pattern... if I kept the speed up on the ball.  I think it will perform well next week on the shark.  With the current surface, there is no possible way I would be able to throw it on our house shot.  So the ball rolls quite well.. its very strong and should cover the heavier oil patterns without a problem.
