Thanks to Storm technical staff

I sent an email to the Storm technical staff the other day, inquiring about how to bring my X Factor back to box finish.
I got a response in less than 24 hours. I polished it up last night - we'll have to wait and see how it works.
But the response time was fantastic!

mumzie, glad you had success with getting a response/information from Storm. I bought an X-Factor about a month after this ball came out. I E-mailed Storm with some questions about drilling it. I gave them the information on my bowling style, revs, speed, etc. and they wouldn't commit to any type drilling for me. I E-mailed them back immediately after their reply, begging for help on how to drill this ball and they said they delete all E-mails after reading them and couldn't remember talking to me 5 minutes earlier. This really ticked me off. I went ahead and quessed how to drill it, and either the drilling choice was wrong or else the ball was a Dud as this ball turned out to be the worse ball I haver owned on any conditionn I tried it on. I owned almost all Storm Balls prior to this incident but after this expensive experience, I swore I would never buy another Storm Ball again.........so, due to this bad experience, I cannot brag how responsive or how well Storm will try to help their customers as they do not help all customers. I've since gotten rid of the three Storm Balls I had at that time and have purchased all Brunswick and Ebonite balls and have been more than happy with the help from both Brunswick and Ebonite in the drilling these balls.

I was told to bring the surface back first by using Storm Xtra 1, then Xtra 2 polishes.
If you need the specific grits, I can give you that later this weekend - it's on my home computer, and I'm at work. :-)
I'll probably try the ball tomorrow and see if it's really back. It looks great - hopefully it looks great on the lanes as well.

Brickguy,

The best advice should come from your ball driller.  He can/has watched you and should know your game.  Any manufacturer rep giving recommendations through email is just giving educated guesses.  Not saying they are wrong, just saying a good ball driller should be able to help you more.

Now, if you don't have a good ball driller.......... that's another story.

Mike, the "that's another story" part will cover this one.That is why I contacted Storm as I needed help. Yes, if my driller was knowledgable I wouldn't have even thought of bothering Storm. However, whether Storm would have had to make an educated guess or not, the Storm Technical Staff should have made an attempt to help, but they didn't.......I have had no problems with getting advice from Brunswick and Ebonite and educated guess or not, their advice was accurate. I E-mailed Ebonite on the drilling of the V2 Pearl and their advice was accurate. The ball worked perfect and even exceeded my expections. Ditto for a ball I purchased from Brunswick.......And what if their advice hadn't of been perfect, at least they would have been trying to help....That is a lot more than Storm did. I'm sure if you were in my shoes, you would feel similiar to how I feel and at the same time swear off buying anymore Storm balls just like I have.

Thanks for the appology Steve. Wish I had known about you at the time. I did get good service and response on ordering some parts for my 4 ball roller a few months prior to this incident. I guess it will "blow over"  and I will sort of put it behind me after awhile.

Bob, I gave them all the information about my game. I did likewise to you recently and you both helped and advised me and it worked and I would not hesitate to ask you for help again. I expected the same type help/cooperation from Storm, that you gave to me, but it didn't happen......and due to my having a hearing handicap and unable to talk on the phone, I have to communicate by E-mail or similiar means like this site.

Droopy,

If I were resurfacing your X Factor, I would run it through my Cook Sphere Machine up to about 600 grit.  Storm #2 by hand on spinner, at least 2 of 3 axis.  Storm #3 on spinner.  Reacta Shine on spinner.

This should make the ball super shiny, super tacky, and hook like there is no tomorrow at the break point.
