Title: Fear Factor

I was considering getting a Fear Factor for use on oily lanes, but it seems to be that the people that I know that have thrown them have had them quit hooking after about 6 weeks. Is this a problem with this ball or am I mistaken ?  It just seems to me that this balls wears out fast.

i've had my FF since spring and have had no problems..as long as you clean it with a de-greaser like orange clean or simple green.hope this helps.

Use Neo-Tec's "Hook-It" once a month and the ball will keep hooking just like it did when it came out of the box.

I'm fortunate to have a large enough arsenal that I don't need to go to the Fear Factor that often.  I have had it since the end of 2003 and it has about 40 games on it (I don't find the need for it that often).  I clean and re-dull it after just about every use, and when I do need it, it's a fantastic flood ball.  Gives me a little more angle than my other particles, and a nice weight block as well.  I would reccommend it.

wow the ff stop hooking?  i had mine for 7 months and it still hooks and hit hard.  outside inside its just a beast.  the one thing i did notice is that u have to take care of this ball like a newborn baby.

Remper,

I don't know if you're bowling on nothing but flat oily sport shots, but usually the outside of the lane has much less oil than the middle.  If you throw particles on dry too much, you either flatten or break the particles.  That makes the ball roll earlier, then not hook/hit as much as when it was new.  Most particles can be resurfaced to like new condition, but others are tough to rejuvinate.  As a general rule, use Scotch Brite pads instead of wet dry sandpaper when scuffing particles.

Oil absorption from throwing on heavy oil will take it's toll long term, but not typically after so few games, unless it's a first generation Columbia TEC ball.  If you throw on heavy oil a lot, clean the ball after every session and consider using Doc's Elixir.
