Blue ThunderStorm

Ok, i got this ball drilled up today, it was done Axis Leverage.  Not sure on the top weight but the Pin is even with my Fingers and out about 2 1/2 inches with a MONSTER wieght hole drilled into the CG.

Well i had about 1 games worth of practice on this ball, before going to my league tonight.

This ball is great I never knew that a drilling like this would give me such a mellow reaction.  And reads the lane very well too.

Well i goto my league and  when the first game starts i am playing 20-10 and having the ball come into the pocket nicely.  Well on some of the lanes in the house carry down in very noticable after a couple of frames any by the 5th frame i make a move and start playing 15-10 and find myself back in the pocket.

Well during the second game i am fighting carry down, but still hitting the pocket and had the front 7, and then leave a 2 pin on a light hit.  So i make another move and end up Playing right up 10.  And finish shooting 259.

And i stay there for the whole third game too, and shoot 247.

So for the nite i shoot 731,  226-258-247  and didnt have a single open either, which is a first for me in a long time!  But i could have easily shot a high 700, or even 800 if a couple single pin shots would have been strikes, but oh well.

Anyways, i just wanted to post my review on this ball because they dont have a place to post it under Storms area.

Oh and if anyone else wants to share thier experience with the Blue Thunder please share with me.

David, you may want to edit the subject line. In your text you talk abou tthe Blue Thunder, which I am sure is the ball you are so happy with. The Thunderstorm is a different ball and was black. I don't think there was a ball called the Blue Thunderstorm.

And I agree, the Blue Thunder was an excellent ball.

The BT was a great ball...the Too Hot is pretty much the same ball without the power ball.

Stormy,

Are you sure about this? I do not know, so I'm depending on your judgement. While the Blue Thunder was a flippy pearl, I don't remember it being anywhere near as insanely flippy as I have sent the Too Hot be. I mean the tricks that the Too Hot does makes your eyes flip inside your head, so to speak.

charlest, like with any ball, I guess it depends on who is throwing it and how its drilled!  My Too Hot is super smooth, but then again I am a stroker...its my go to when other stuff is flippy.  A guy on my team a few years back when the BT was out had one, he is a max revver (think 80% of Robert Smith), and his flipped hard even on oil.  A lot of posts/reviews talk about the TH being weak sometimes, others how its smooth down the lane then a strong back, others still about it being as flippy as a Trauma or XFactor.

here is the Blue Thunder core...

here is the Too Hot/Ultra Hot core (same, no power ball)...
http://bowlingballreviews.com/ball.asp?ballid=295

The covers are both Cureylon Pearl, the Too Hot has a bit more mica for more skid.

I hear you and understand, Stormy. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder."

Check those cores again. The BT reference says the RG is low and it seems to have a nugget in the middle; the TH does not seem to have it, at least in this picture. With the same Curelyon coverstock that *COULD* make the TH more flippy. The TH's core is listed at 2.581 on the reference you give; that verges on a high RG value.

Personally I think the blue thunder is a pile of junk.   The 2 best pearl resins from storm are the Thunder Road Pearl #1 and Lightning Flash #2.  I've been trying to get rid of it for 3 months now so I'm glad that I just got rid of it.  Poor guy he's all excited to get the piece of crap.  Unloaded it on some unsuspecting BR person too!  Right near Charlest's area.  Actually I think Charlest bowls with him.

Nice guy, who's learning a LOT by playing, using and drilling different balls in different ways. I don't bowl with him as we've just met a couple of months ago, but he is local to me. Pretty good bowler, as far as I can tell so far. We'll be throwing a few games on Monday in a small practice before my league.

Charlest

Yes this is a Blue Thunder,  And I did have the Black Thunder Storm ball too, the Blue (PBA) Thunder came out about yr after the black.

Well i got this ball to help me with my Monday nite league i am totally lost on this league and averaging a whopping 185 lol, while my other leagues are 200 on weds and 210 on thursday- the nite i am actually doing good lol, and too think i hate bowling in this house, lol or atleast usta hate bowling in this house.

because before this yr, they had ball returns that when all the way to the gutter so playing deep on the right lane was tough.

But this summer they put in new regular ball returns which allows you to play the whole lane.

Well hopefully this ball will help me out on my monday nite league cuz its like everything have seems to take a nose dive at the end. And if i send the ball out, i leave washouts too.

Plus i have been wanting a ball that i can play straighter with too.  That doesnt have such a big backend.  I mean i had a Recovery Drilled for this and it had the Pin CG and MC2 in a straight line under my ring finger and MC2 was under my thumb and this was to give me a weaker reaction with less backend, lol well needless to say this ball still hooks a ton.
