someone suggested this....
« on: March 09, 2010, 03:27:53 PM »
I asked a buddy of mine who drills, (not my stuff normally) to give me a good layout for the Invasion... I wanted the ball to store a bit of energy and react hard off of the spot...my PAP is 5 7/16", 1/2" up. he gave me a 4 3/4 pin from pap and a 4 1/8 pin from mass bias...said to let the CG fall where it falls..What do you guys think about this one?

Sounds plausible, just better have some good head oil for this ball - I would not expect it to go long an pop hard, unless you hit it with polish.

I think it's impossible.
So assuming you meant Pap to MB... It's still going to depend on what Pin Buffer you use.  But, with those distances to Pap, you're going to get a later Midlane read, with a strong backend motion.  Your drilling angle for this layout is 55 degrees.  And your Angle to Val are as follows:

18* 1 inch buffer will give you a snap
33* 2 inch buffer will give you a very strong arc
49* 3 inch buffer will give you control
68* 4 inch buffer will give you an extremely smooth backend.

The smaller the buffer, the more snap you get, but the more control you sacrifice, making you susceptible to over/under, especially with such a strong ball.  I recommend a 2" Buffer leaving you with 55x4 7/8x33.

Good luck on whatever you decide.

Oh, also keep in mind, the Pin is going to end up 2 3/4" above your ring finger, so make sure you get a pin distance of 4" as to avoid too much finger weight.

Thank you very much guys! So it sounds like the numbers are right for what i want the ball to do, there's not going to be any danger of this ball burning up to quickly or reacting terribly right? the drilling isn't too strong or rediculous for this ball is  it?

willy, it's still going to have a strong cover & core... so as long as the  lane conditions are conducive it may perform as you wish...

I don't EVER plan on throwing it on a house shot . This is a first game college sport shot ball for me. I may  only be able to throw it on the Shark in my PBAX league this summer

Cool.  Let us know how you fare with it...  I may need a replacement for my Attitude soon.  But I just may hold out for an Invasion Hybrid when/if they come out w/one.... or go RoF...  Not sure at this point.
