Title: Good medium to light oil ball with strong back end
Post by: MK on April 02, 2011, 11:58:30 AM
Seeking recomendations for a medium to light oil ball to round out my arsenal of Nano and Victory Road.  I am a medium speed, high tweener with a 180 league average.

I like strong back end.   Options so far include:

 - Tropical Heat Hybrid

 - Rising Star

What else?   Please reply with your favorite.....

Thanks

MK

Hybrid tropical heat is alot more ball than advertised, definitely not a medium to light oil ball. Maybe you should consider the resin one. I have the Hybrid one and its the strongest ball I have.

i actually get more backend out of my heat hybrid than my nano. stills works great on dry lanes because it goes so far down the lane. the jet was a good ball for me on dry lanes and it had a strong backend

14lb Reign and 15lb The Sauce for sale/trade

Love my RG Rising Star.  No matter if you are a down the boards guy or love to crank it, the ball will flat out work and it carries very well.  It definitely is one of the best balls I have ever seen for medium-dry lanes.

Dark Star. The Rising Star is a great ball, but it's probably too close to the Victory Road for a 3 ball arsenal.

Why the hybrid Tropical Heat and not the Pearl Tropical Heat?

Try a storm natural or a Roto grip Grenade. I just got a used grenade, re-drilled it, and shot 237,279,267: 783 off the press. My game sounds very simular to yours, this ball really works well for me.

The Avalanche Urethane and the Avalanche Pearl Green/Black are great medium to light oil balls in my bag.  I also get a lot of use from my older equipment, rotogrip Pluto and Neptune.  I would also recommend the Hammer Cherry Vibe or for that matter almost any of the Vibe series.

Don't forget to look at t Tropical Storm.  It is stronger than advertised, and on a medium to light shot, it allows you to stay outside longer than others.  I love my Pearl Trop Storm, averaged about 230 last year using that ball alone.

I know it hasn't been out long, but I've been impressed with my Seismic Euphoria.

Ball is very clean through the heads, but still very arcishly reacting, and plenty strong enough to kick out the corners.

Thanks for all your input guys!  I decided on the Midnight VIBE.   I just happened to bowl with someone in a tournament over the weekend who was using it and it convinced me.  Dark Star, Tropical Heat Pearl and Motiv QZ2 were close seconds.

Thanks for all the feedback guys!

I picked up a Midnight VIBE over the weekend and I love it.  I rolled about 10 games over the weekend on worn down oil patterns throwing from a 20 to 10 postion with great power to the pocket in every game.  The ball did not seem to tear up the oil pattern much so I was able to stay on my line for a good long time.

It won't be the first ball I will bring out in a given night but I bet it will give me an edge when house conditions break down and everybody else is getting too much hook.

Thanks again,

MK

What layout did you end up putting on your Midnight Vibe?

Love my Onyx Vibe but wasn't a huge fan of my Midnight Vibe. However, I gave it to a friend and he shot 835 last night with it on a THS with clean backends.
