They're back.....
« on: June 24, 2008, 06:57:05 AM »
Hey everybody...for those that are interested i've finally got my Journal page up and going again. I've made some changes and additions, mainly links to the balls used and brief descriptions why...as well as photos and stats from the event. This format takes longer to put together, but there is a lot more information that i can give you

Also, the Arsenal page is a little more up to date. We're working on the Dimensions and Rapid Fire Pearls....they should be up soon

We also have the upload section of the Coaching / In the Bag program figured out, so all we have left to do is set up the pay page and we should be ready to go soon

You can view the latest Journal from Belton, Mo here :

You can view the updated Arsenal page here :
http://www.jeffcarterbowling.com/Arsenal2.html

We're hoping to be finishing some other sections as well very soon, such as :
Photo Galleries
Calendar
Video Ball Reviews
etc...

Stay tuned for more updates

JC-
How do you like that 0x4 Street Rod? I am guessing you needed a piece like that so that the cover was strong enough to read.

The Street Rod Solid was just an experiment. I didnt really see a fit for that ball in my arsenal, so we drilled it specifically for Cheetah hoping that it would be clean enough through the fronts and rolly downlane

So far so good, at least this time it worked for what i needed it for

Hi Jeff,

The site is looking really good, but just a note about the Arsenal page. It would be really nice if you wrote a short piece about what you use each ball for specifically, how they fit together and what the balls give you differently from each other.

Thanks and good luck in regionals this summer..

never give up

There's really no way to easily do what you're asking for. Everything all depends on the lane condition and lane surface that you're bowling on. I could tell you what does what, compared to what....but on different patterns and surfaces those things could be reversed.

My philosophy is to use whatever works at any given time. There is no set of rules that you can follow in this sport. You can have a "guideline" to start with, but shortly after that all bets are off.

One of the biggest problems that i see in the sport today ( in the pro shop and bowling ball business ) is this : To many people look for ball reaction backwards, and they rely on information that doesnt neccessarily pertain to them and their games. Instead of buying a ball, picking a layout and then asking what reaction they will get out of it....you should really decide on what reaction you are looking for, decide on a ball that fits along with what you're looking for and then lay it out accordingly. Your decision has to be based on how it will fit into your hands..not somebody elses. They may throw it totally different, bowl on different conditions and / or lane surfaces.

Always keep in mind that bowling balls are designed to do specific things. If you go against what they are made to do, you will end up unhappy with your purchase. If you buy a Dimension, drill it as strong as possible and then go bowl on a lot of friction....you're not going to be very happy. The sport is all about who matches up the best at all times. Don't let yourself fall into Ball Reaction Trap !!!

My arsenal page is set up to show what works for me, meaning that it may or may not work for you. I can give you all the reccommendations that you would ever want, but without knowing all the variables and even possibly seeing you bowl...it may not be of much good as to how it translates to you. With that being said, i'll always be the most help that i can be and i certainly welcome all questions and comments

The Journals and Arsenal pages are awesome Jeff. I really like the information and score sheets on the Journals and the story you tell though them, gives me a sense of being there.
