Gravity Shift Owners

What do y'all think of the new Gravity Shift? What lane conditions do you think it is suited for, heavy mediums? DO you think the cover never tires as Storm claims? Finally, do you like this ball and the reaction it provides and where does it fit in your arsenal?

I have had mine for probably 2 or 3 weeks now. Ball hits really hard and definetely has some major backend. I would say medium up to heavy oil is good. As far as the cover I have already put probably 60 games on it mine has a major track on it probably tracks up faster then anyball I have had. I did rejuvenate it and it didnt have a whole lot of oil in it like I thought it would. I havent thrown it since but will try it tonight for jackpot bowling.

Hey guys, lets get serious.

Thrown 3 300 games the night I drilled it.  900 series for the night ?

First game was 278 (darn 10 pin), shouldn't that have been a 279 ?

I have drilled three of these.  the first one had the pin below the fingers, like layout #1.  3rd game he shot 300 with it.  nice reaction, but with this layout needed to go a bit straighter down the lanes with the amount of oil.  The other two had the pin above the fingers.  Med lanes, the ball went fairly long with a masive back end.  Hit very good, but left some corners due to the sharp angle at the back end. Overall, its a good ball.  Will it hold up, only time will tell.

What would be a good drilling layout for the gravity shift? Something that will be very strong and predictable on the back end. I will be using it for heavy mediums. 16mph medium revs. thanks

Stan,
He said he threw 3 300's with it, "ONE" the night it was drilled.  NOt all 3 in one night. Didn't want to hijack the thread w/that.  Just wanted to clarify so we don't get the back & forth bickering.

I just got my GS thursday.  Can't wait to try it out & I'll get back to you guys.  I also have 2 Shifts.  The 16 lb I pretty much don't use anymore, but that ball was strong on oil.  I got my 15lber coming later this week (just got it used 2-3 games, having it plugged, redrilled for my grip).  My initial thought was that the Gravity (pearl reactive) would fall under the Shift (pearl/particle), but the posts & reviews I've been reading are telling me different?  Can one of the experts tell me why the Gravity would be stronger than the Shift?  Confused.  Thanks.

The Shift is particle pearl, the Gravity is a pearlized cover. PP would grip the lane slightly earlier, giving the appearance of not finishing very hard. Pearlized reactive would store more energy and appear to be stronger on the back end. Not many PP's are going to outhook a pearlized reactive in the back since they normally release more energy in the midlanes and much earlier. This very reason is why PP's are great to have in the bag for when the ball is checking too hard off the spot. PP's release more energy earlier in the midlane and do not have it to give at the spot vs. pearlized reactives.

These are not statements of fact, but generalizations. Some of it is just visual, but my Gravity moves harder on the backend then my Shift.

My gravity is pretty strong. I can throw it on the scorpion and shark pattern. Probably one of the best balls I have ever owned. The cover is extremely durable. Now I am not going to lie it does track up after 9 games. All you have to do is clean it with some cleaner and it comes right out. This ball will probably last a very long time. I am drilling up another one I have yet to shoot under 740 with the ball. Sets so far, 763,757,759,742. This ball has amazing hit.

Monsterpike,

Although the Shift and Gravity Shift share the same name, The Gravity Shift has a different core. The core is now smaller and more dense creating a lower RG. The shape of the core has also has been tweaked a bit.
Also, the cover is a new cover material called the R2X. This cover is designed to clear the fronts a little easier, and really  read the mid lane. This new coverstock is also designed to not soak with oil as quickly, hence yielding a longer life span.

In my opinion, the Gravity Shift is more comparable to the Paradigm, or Domination. The Gravity is strong in the mid lane like the Paradigm, but with more backend like the Domination. The best of both of those balls.
