Dimension-Bite great two ball combo
« on: September 24, 2008, 01:54:48 AM »
I have the Dimension at 2000 ablaron on a spinner and the Bite at 4000 Ablaron on a spinner, Brunswick Rough Buff, then I lightly go over the Bite with 2000 Ablaron by hand and it gives me a great medium/heavy to medium combination. When the Dimension starts hooking too much or I start leaving solid 10 pins, I change to the Bite and continue on. The Dimension for me is not a great swing ball I mean stand 30 swing 15 out to 8 and back and still carry. When the lanes open like that, the Bite shines. Last night the lanes dried pretty good 15 and out and I was struggling even with the Bite standing 32. It just checked up too soon. I thought about going to my Gravity Shift, Shift or even my Neptune but we were down quite a few pins and I didn't want to start over. So I moved to 36 (feet) with the Bite threw the ball through 17 at the arrows out to the 10 at the breakpoint and the Bite came storming back and I struck out from the 6th on. The more I threw the Bite the more confidence I had. No need to change the surface on the Dimension, it worked great for the first two games and all three games in my afternoon league. Both the Dimension and the Bite are drilled similar with the pin under the ring and cg kicked right. The MB is furtheer right (if marked)on the Dimension but the length and back end is still tremendous. I have another Bite drilled the same but the MB is further right then the first Bite, but I'm not even carrying it right now, no need. I just need to find the right combination under the Bite.

Thanks for reading.

I saw you were saying the dimension was not a great swing ball for you. I to thought this at first, mine is drilled pin under 4 3/4 P2P and was at 2000  abralon by spinner, and even though I have a pretty good amount of oil to bowl on, Mine wasn't coming back on when trying to play a big open line.

At first i thought it just wan't a good roll for my style, but also thought it was burning up without me noticing. Before the same league this week, I took the ball to 1000 abralon- equiv. to 500 sandpaper, then polished over with Secret Sauce, well Now I basically have a new ball, this thing is real strong now, I can play as deep as i want on Med Heavy and it is coming back. My carry is also fantastic now. I can still play many different areas on the lane with speed and hand changes but I can swing it deep if i want now nowing it is coming back.

I don't know your kind of release or PAP, but I have a high track, in profile, although don't know my axis tilt or rotation t the moment. But I know form looking at the graphs about them I consider myself to have a powerful release with fairly good revs. If you are anything like myself, I would suggest trying what i have done. It definitely woke my Dimension up bigtime

I agree with you Lanehammer20 that if I put some polish on the Dimension, I would be able to swing it much easier though I have a medium track of 4 7/8 and 5/8 up.  But that would defeat the purpose.  I didn't write the post to slam the Dimension, but what a great 1-2 ball combination I had with the Dimension and the Bite.  Rather then polish the Dimension, I think I'll wait for the pearl.  I kow polishing a solid is different then throwing a pearl, but the 1-2 combination I have covers a lot of conditions.

Thank you for the reply,

just throwing it out there, but I understand totally on keeping it where its at for heavier stuff if it appears. I normally do to, but tried something different and liked it alot. good luck with it, I am anticipating a pearl as well

LaneHammer20,

I appreciate the feedback. I matched up better with the Dimension then I did the Cell for whatever reason and I matched up better with the Bite then I did the Black Widow solid.  Both the solid and the Cell are great selling bowling balls and many talk volumes about both, but for me, I matched up better with the Dimension and the Bite and use the Neptune for light/short oil.  Now if I can fill the gap, maybe with a Dimension pearl, (currently working with the Shift and Gravity Shift)I'll be ready for the first half of the season.

Thanks again,

This is just an opinion, I personally think the Dimension works better with a touch of polish or even at 4000 without polish. I have two, one at box and I can't use it anywhere except for heavier volumes.
