Need Heavy Oil Ball
« on: January 26, 2009, 09:59:39 PM »
I love the reaction I get from my EraserPBT and would like to stay with Storm for a heavy oil ball.  Any recommendations would be helpful.  Drill recommendations are welcome and please enclose diagrams if possible. I do not drill my own stuff but my driller will try about anything I ask him too.  I generally play 13-15 out to 7-8 on wood surfaces but I can play straighter if I need to.

Thanks

Agreed, I have thrown both, and they both give you totally different looks. The dimension will give you a much earlier roll to the pocket, which will be good on extremely heavy oil. The VG with enough surface will be more then enough on the backend in heavy oil. I would base the answer on your rev rate, if you have low revs, maybe the earlier rolling dimension will be the key to you, if you have mid to high revs, the VG will without a doubt come back with a vengeance after about 40 feet. Both are good balls, comes down to do you want to swing the ball or play down and in?

i have seen the vg flatten out . last week there were three of us using the vg. all three had different rev rates and speeds.the one with the most revs was inconsistent and flat to the pocket,i am lower spedd and revs and the ball would jump on me if my shot wasnt perfect.the third guy had good speed and consistent roll, not as many revs as bowler one and he had 10 boards of area to work with. it was really unnerving.I do,however believe that this ball has a place in everyones bag because there will be a time ,as you get use to the ball, that you will be able to play most any part of the lane on most conditions. I cant say that about my cell,or the sauce that i sold. i need some oil to use mine,i shot it last night all three games sunday i only had one decent game with it,different shots, but it definitly is a ball you want in your bag

If you want to stay storm the Dimension or VG is the ball to work with, if you are open to companies try out the Mega Friction from AMF. It gives me three additional boards on the backend then the VG gave me. The VG is an excellent ball though, you just have to play with the surface sometimes to get the reaction you want, which isn't a bad thing by any means!
