What happened to the Sure Fire?

I've read nothing but rave reviews about this ball and yet Storm discontinued it? Anybody know why?

This is (virtually) ALWAYS one and only one reason why any manufacturer discontinues a ball: lack of sales.

You must realize that the population/membership of ballreviews.com is not typical of the bowling world at large. Besides, most people who post a ball review, other than the staff of the manufacturer, do so because they like the ball. Those who do not like a ball rarely take to the time to describe why.

The SureFire is discontinued and I cannot for the life of me understand why. But then I cannot truly understand why more of that series was discontinued...

Spit Fire, Diablo, Sure Fire, Pyro...all great balls

Yes the Rapid Fire and Rapid Fire Pearls are good but are their coverstocks THAT much better than the balls they replaced? Not in my opinion...but then that's great for us...once they disco those balls we can get them cheaper!!!!

Doug,

You know the routine by now.

A ball doesn't sell. So the manufacturer has to discontinue it - there's not enough interest. Sometimes the reason is as simple as the wrong color (Brunswick Nemesis -> Wizard -> Copperhead). Sometimes, just not enough interest or usefullness for the general bowling public. Whatever.

The replacement may very well serve the same purpose as the old ball with a different color, maybe a slightly different coverstock, maybe a slightly different core. The attempt is made to sell the new ball.

Damn!  I did'nt know that it was disco'd.

I've recently bought one, brand new, that had been sitting in our pro shop for over six months (he couldn't sell it, which is probably why he sold it to me for a "friends" price!).

I find it an excellent ball.

Now I've got them all (Rapid Fire, Rapid Fire pearl and Sure Fire).

I bought the Rapid Fire pearl from the pro shop guy.  He had drilled it up for himself, threw 8 games with it, didn't like it and sold it to me for half price!

I find the Sure Fire to be an excellent control ball.  Think this was a real sleeper in the Storm Lineup, it never really got the hype and the push of the Rapid Fire.  Alot of other feels the same way about the Agent line, picked up a discontinued Special Agent for my wife at a good price it has become her go to ball.

As a company brings new balls in other balls get discontinued so goes life.
