cleaning the X-factor?

Hello,

 I just bought a Triple X X-factor and have a lot of black smudge marks on it from the lanes. I have tried the Storm Extra Shine cleaner, but that doesn't really clean it that great. I also throw a Hammer Power Diesel which I use the acetone base cleaner, but I heard that you don't want to use it on this ball. Any good cleaners out there?

I use a Simple Green and water mixture...25/75% rough..works for me better than the company mixtures.

ya dont use the acetone stuff anymore. Ebonite, storm and track have good stuff. Ebonites power house, storm has mega bite particle cleaner for the power diesel and reacta shine for the xxx, or u could use tracks clean and dull for the power.

The xtra shine u have dosent clean the balls, jsut polishes them to 3500 GRIT!! lol, i use that stuff on my spare ball.

I use a mixture of 50% simple green ,25% vinegar,and 25% water. It doesn't have the best smell but, It works really well.

Extra Shine is not a cleanser, it just polishes.  It's a good spare ball polish and it's good for making a reactive ball go longer down the lanes.

I'd stongly suggest using Storm Reacta Shine.  It will clean and polish.  If you use Reacta Shine on a regular basis and wipe it off rigorously you will be able to maintain the box finish for quite some time.  I use it on my Triple X Factor and Power Charge Pearl and I am convinced the balls react virtually the same as when I bough them.

Good old fashioned Alcohol will do just fine to clean your stuff. I get the 90% stuff cause it's a little stronger. I fold a paper towel up about 4 times into a small square and saturate it. You'll see how much crap comes off when you do this and the Alcohol dries quick.

Since the ball is a pearl it won't hold oil as much as solids do but once it starts to dull where it is noticable a good coat of Storms 1500 grit polish applied with a spinner will put your ball back to box finish and should revive the snap it had when new.

Storm's XTra Shine does not polish balls to 3500 grit! It has the potential to polish it to as much as 3500 grit. WHat yo uget depends on how much you use, how hard you press and for how long you press. You just don't get "35o0 grit" poof! automatically just by using it.

Yes, you're right -it is not intended to be a cleaner, just a very good polsih.

At my shop I use the Hook It, Renew It, and Hook Again cleaners on my spinner and that stuff works like a champ.  You really need to use a spinner I think to get the best results especially with the Storm Extra shine.  Even though I throw nothing but storm, their cleaners need some help.  Try that Hook Again or the Renew it.  Works good.

simple green all the way, really works...i agree with everyone who mentioned it from this post...although i use only the simple green with no water added...
stuff works great under a ball spinner, if not it will take a little more time if u do it by hand...
