is there any body who has a hyroad with the pin drilled??? if so let me know what you think of the ball.....
THANKX

The pin on my Hy-road is in the ring finger. Due to the flip cap being on the bottom of the weight block, this has not altered the flair or dynamics of the ball the way it did on balls with the flip block on top (Fired up, Rapid Fire, etc....). The ball rolls real strong through the middle of the lane due to the 2000 abralon surface. This Hy-road was the best look I had at the open this year.

Try taking the ball to 1000 ab and then hit with reacta shine

As I understand it, drilling the pin does not effect ball reaction. The distance of the pin from your PAP controls ball reaction. I am sure that there are many on this site that can explain it better.

Those that can do. Those that can't complain. Pimpin ain't easy, but it's mandatory.
Most things we like, we don't need. Most things we need, we don't like. Don't confuse your likes with your needs.

ive heard it keeps the flare lines tighter together... kinda saves everything for the backend. also had an hammer high-rev drilled liked that. was the biggest backend ball i had. was just too touchy tho

Why would it? The pin is just a plastic marker for the top of the core. How would drilling that particular spot out make a significant difference in ball reaction?

Dan Belcher,
When you drill a pin out of a ball that has a considerable piece of the core like a flip block on top, or a higher density cap, you can drill some of the diff. out of the ball by drilling through this with a deep hole. It is like using a balance hole, with out the fourth hole. Because you are drilling density out of the ball at that spot, you can alter the amount of flair produced. It isn't that you are drilling the "pin", it is what you are doing to the shape of the core that the pin is holding in place.
When you drill a balance hole anywhere else on the ball, if deep enough, you are altering the shape of the core, basically making it asymmetrical. When drilling through the pin, you are drilling the top of the core, still leaving the outside symmetrical shape intake, but now altering the dynamics of the weight distribution of the core.

Great explanation Tommy.
I just tell people that on certain balls it makes them roll smoother!

Just the answer I was looking for! Thanks.
