Are they similar ? I have a choice to buy either ball, is newer better ?

They are pretty similar the Marvel just has more midlane and is a little earlier

I had better success with the fusion..felt like it was a better core cover match up. 

The modern surface got oil shined very quickly like the erg cover on the lucid/crux.  I definitely didn't like that
