Invasion v. Nano
« on: March 15, 2011, 10:58:26 PM »
How do these 2 compare with each other, I had the Original VG and it was one of my all time favorite balls. When I purchased the Invasion I thought that it was going to be a lot stronger than it turned out to be on the backend. It is a good ball for me to use on oily lanes when I need to play straighter ( like Nationals first couple games), but when it comes time to moving in a little and trying to open up the lane with a little swing the ball just a  is not as strong of the spot as I would have thought. I am not talking moving in when the lanes dry up, I am trying to compare it to the Nationals shot when you might move in about 5 boards and their still is plenty of oil so it doesn't burn up but it gets lazy when I swing it. How would the Nano compare?

I had the same problem with my Invasion.  It was never what I had expected it to be.  I just got my Nano punched up today and I'll be able to let you know tomorrow.  From what I've heard, the Nano is MUCH more continuous than the Invasion.  I'm excited to see how the Nano rolls tonight.  I'll let you know.

Balls in the bag and order they come out:
#1-Anarchy #2- Virtual Energy  #3- Virtual Gravity #4- Gravity Shift #5- Big Hit (spare and really dry)
#6- Teal Rhino Pro (oldie but a goodie)

Let me preface this note with I shot honor scores with my Virtual Gravity [VG] and Invasion as both got plenty of use for me. The Nano to me is a VG on that stuff you aren't suppose to take. The Invasion was a smoother ball for me which is why I used it a lot but I liked the move out of my VG more down the lane. The Nano is everything good from the VG but more. The Nano cuts a path to the pocket so when you keep in your hand your area grows and it does not stop coming as you chase the oil. Mine has been polished since leaving the shop and as the polish burns off, I'm seeing how disrespectful this ball is to whatever is on the lane.

while I do love my Invasion (after some surface changes)  It doesnt compare to my VG or my Nano.....

this is how i would describe how I use them...

I use my VG on longer oil patterns like Shark or Scorpion, or when carry down happens.

My Nano I feel like i could only use it on heavier/longer oil patterns.... It's that strong... It's like twice as strong as my VG......

My Invasion, I've used on a 40ft flat pattern, when i needed something to go a bit longer... I use it on our league ths, and I'd probably use it on Chameleon / Viper...     It's alot smoother on the backend vs the Nano or VG

New to Storm here...well within the last 2 years or so....Virtual Gravity first Storm ball...wasn't happy at first thanks to the ball being short pinned from the get go...but now as I look back...the best thing that ever happened to me..I like to hook the ball..but I don't throw alot of revs...the short pinned VG forced me down and in...wouldn't finish if I would swing it....it gave me my first 700 in 14 years....and my high game of 299....then the Invasion came out and I requested the pin be spread further apart...now I had a weapon...went from a 187 average when I first bought the VG to a 206 at year end with the Invasion..it took a while to hit 700 with the Invasion but I finally did it...and when I did..it was about every other month I would throw one..I bowl 5 times a month...when Nano came out I had money towards a bowling ball from Pike St. Lanes in Parkersburg WV that I had to use since being a member there..so I purchased the Nano...nothing wrong with the Invasion...never left more than 6 ten pins in a set with it...only did that once....most of the time it was around 1 a game...so back to Nano...I have bowled 5 nights with it......so far here is the total....691-599-619-755-687....in the 755..had the first 9 in the first game...and the first 10 in the second game...this ball hits hard!!!  STORM NATION!
