Just bought an iq pearl and had grips and thumb slug put in .problem is after a couple weeks around the thumb there is a place the size of your fingernail that has cracked but not broken out yet .i figure once it does ill have to plug ball to stop it from getting bigger.
My question is would haveing a thumb slug void storm replaceing the ball?
My shop guy says to wait untill it breaks out, but hes still not sure if they will replace it. Because of thumb slug .

Drilling a slug has nothing to do with the warranty. Unless you drill any of the holes inside of 1 3/16" to the pin or MB(in the case of a drilled in PSA marking) then you should get a replacement. Where were you storing the ball?

I have had an IQ Tour Solid split and IQTP crack around the thumb like this one, had a switch grip in it. Both were replaced with out any problems. Had to send one in and the other pictures emailed in we're fine. I would not delay, your shop guy should be able to get results from his distributor. If not call Storm direct.

i have heard of a ton of iqtp's cracking, most within 40 games. something in the production of the first gen of them must have gone bad. you may want to wait to replace it with another iqtp til they fix the issue, and produce more.

Your shop should email or call Storm for a replacement.

It is clearly stated on the box of Storm balls, and probably all other companies for that matter, that slugs and insert usage void warranties. Now if the company decides to honor the warranty anyway, that is a different issue.
I've drilled a quite a few IQ pearls, with no problem. Often, if the pilot hole for the slug was not beveled properly, or not opened up enough for the slug to fit properly, this can cause the issue of cracking. Pounding and jamming slugs into a hole that is too snug can create weakness to the outside cover of the ball.

Agree 100%, I've drilled several IQP's with no issue. Most of which were within the first week of release (mine included)
