My arsenal is leaving Big B...
« on: April 29, 2007, 06:05:41 AM »
...with me adding more and more of this storm crap! MANY MANY thanks to Allstarbowlingjoe, it was an unbeatable deal.

The pearl is my 2nd one, it is going into the nether regions of my closet to never come out! Well, at least not until I wear my first one to death...

I drilled the Solid and the T-Road. The solid was everything I wanted it to be, I shot 704 with it first league night of use! The T-Road, well... we're gonna have to play with it a few times. It isn't as strong on the back as I would like, even with a leverage pin position. I will probably take it down to 1000 abralon and polish it.

Brunswick and Lane #1: there is no other. Well... maybe a few Storms... and a One. Did I mention Roto Grip yet?

Man I wish I opened a box and saw that...  So you used the Thunderstruck Solid AND a T-Road pearl correct?

What did you think of the comparison in terms of how they reacted with the different coverstocks?

I think the T-Road has that inverted core like the DT...  I am hoping to throw one at the Open House to see how it would work with my Thunderstruck Solid.

I was really surprised. I need to get a few more games on it, but I think that the  T-road just needs surface adjustment... I used it Sunday on a heavier 38 foot THS and it was... well... I put it away. just a bland, poor rolling ball. Hopefully, a shot of 1000 and a good polish will wake it up.

The solid is a stronger ball, it rolls beautifully, and whipped some thursday night hind quarter with another 700 series 4 games out of the box.

I believe a weight hole would give it more of a snap on the backend.

Hey DONSVO, what do you think of the TS Solid vs. the Pearl one.  You have them drilled differently correct?

if you wanted more on the back from the T-Road pearl you probably should've tried something other than a leverage pin position. That pin position is going to give you an earlier arcy roll compared to a longer and higher pin.

3 3/8 Pin-to-PAP puts the core in it's most unstable position and causes the most flip. I did not want a skid-snap reaction, I just wanted a strong move on the back end. The ball gets plenty of length with the pin where it is, it just isn't as poppy as I would like. I think surface prep will help: I hit it with a shot of 1500 grit to knock off the OOB, and it had a much more readable reaction. I'll keep playing with it.

strikestriketapped: possibly, but that depends on where the weighthole goes and if you have the sideweight to get away with it. The T Road is pretty legal. 2" down the VAL or 1 1/2" in from the PAP will reduce flare potential...

Fluff E Bunnie: I don't think comparing the two is fair, since I have two totally different layouts. here...

The CG is kicked out on the pearl in addition to being almost an inch closer to leverage, and we put a hole thru my PAP for legality. As far as the balls themselves... The pearl is much snappier on the back, but the solid seems to be able to be able to play deeper and recover better. I like them both, I plan to find another solid to throw into my closet with my other NIB TS pearl for later use.
