Polished Virtual Gravity
« on: November 06, 2009, 02:40:25 AM »
I have 2 Virtual Gravity's and have used them very little due to not enough oil so I was thinking of polishing one. For those that have polished one what is the reaction difference between OOB condition and if I don't like it will I be able to get it back to the OOB surface? Also I do have a Virtual Energy drilled similar to 1 of the VG's would I get a similar reaction if I polished the VG?

I polished my VG so I can use it for all three games.  The main differences for me is that I start off about 3 boards right and my moves left throughout the night are not as drastic.  It is very easy to go OOB if you don't like it.

With the same layout and surface, I would think the VE would go a bit longer and have more angularity due to the hybrid coverstock.

when i polished both, it made them more inconsistent than they were in OOB.. also we dont have NEAR enough oil on the house shots i bowl on  lol... never scored with either one.   im also bout to plug one and drill(thumb) through the key.

Have you tried more surface under the polish to smooth out the reaction just a little??

I have also polished my 14# VG drilled 4x4 but it is still too much ball. since I switched from a men's to a mixed league,  where he men's league laid down a long and fresh oil pattern.  The polished ball will go longer but it really finishes hard at the pins.  Almost turning sideways due to my slow ball speeds.  As a result, I am always coming up high and crossing over.

Don't mean to thread jack.  How do you have your current VG drilled ?  I am curious if I have my ball re-drilled from a strong 4x4 to something tamer like their #3 drill instructions of 1.75x5.5 for me to control my shot better.

Anyone else cares to take a stab at my dilemma?  Thanks.

I polished one of the VG's I had and did not like the reaction at all.. The ball was very squirty on the fresh and too much when the lanes broke down. I took it back to OOB very quickly..

My VG has a very light coat of polish on it. It is almost 800 sheen. It is very consistent on med hvy and medium conditions.

Hard to control on light oil conditions. I have it drilled Rico.

I originally got this ball used. After re-drilling it, first time I used it, I shoot 197.
Since then, I''ve gone 214, 210, 256, 276. I think I''m starting to like this ball! Not bad at all.
