Drilling on Sure Fire
« on: February 22, 2008, 08:23:32 AM »
My Sure Fire is currently drilled like:

-------
---*---
--o-o--
---.---
-------
---o---

Everything is lined up with the thumb hole, the pin and the other dot (cg I think its called). Anyways, I dont know much about drillings but is this a pretty tame drilling?

Reason im asking is because Im just not getting a good reaction out of the ball. I throw about a medium speed, on the lower side of revs and this drilling dosent seem to be working for me.

Now I have an Xfactor that has this layout:

-------
-*-----
--o-o--
-------
W.-----
---o---

The "w" stands for a weight hole, and the "." for CG. My Sure Fire does not have weight hole in it. And, my fingers are drilled further apart on the Sure Fire than the Xfactor, does this make a difference?

What I want to know is should I redrill Sure Fire similar to my Xfactor? Is the Xfactors drill less "conservative" then the Sure Fires?

Thanks, Tah161

IMHO, that is a length backend drilling used more affectively by higher rev bowlers playing inside lines(Skid/snap). If you are a lower rev player the leverage drilling on your Xfactor would probably give you the reaction you are looking for. Talk to your driller. Also in your profile, list your bowling style such as revs, ball speed, A game line you play, this will give more knowledgeable than me more tools to make suggestions. Good Luck!

Thanks for the info.

The guy who drilled my ball is a big cranker, so I dont know why he would drill me a ball for a higher rev player.
By the way these were two different drillers in two different states. So I think im going to have to get this ball plugged, and redrilled
