I bought a Lights out last week as a step down from my disturbed. Drilled it strong and changed surface to 4000. Wow great ball. Clean through the front and nice hard but controlled move. Goes through the pins great. Closest motion I've found to my beloved Nomad. This is a great ball, stronger than advertised. It's a shame you don't here that much about !! I've thrown it 5 games 228. 235. 238. 233. 248.

Lights Out is not as wacky as a Frantic, meaning it doesn't jump through the face every so often. The LO is a fantastic ball, drill it strong and add surface and it can be a benchmark ball for most people. It is for me.

Frantic was really, really skid flippy. I left a lot of ring 10s, fast 8s (4-7), and hard 9 pins. Just real condition specific for me, part of the reason its in the closet.

The Frantic was a really good ball for me, but I got a Fringe to replace it and I couldn't adjust so I got rid of it and got a Lights Out. The LO is an awesome ball!

I like this ball motion a lot. AMF Heat Stroke looks very similar, and I can't wait to put holes in one of those.

I absolutely love my Lights Out. I have that and a IQTP in my bag because both balls are absolute money IMO. Both balls have the same layout but different cores and surfaces. Compliment each other very well.
The lights out is just so smooth, nice strong arc, and predictable. I don't think I've ever seen this ball jump off the dry without some kind of warning. Probably one of the most versatile Storm pieces I've ever owned. While I can't seem to string more than 7-8 in a row it still allows me to still score well.

I'm trying to decide on an Asylum or Fusion with surface as a step up so I can take my Disturbed back down to 2000 to handle heavier stuff. Then a Hyper Cell above that

I'd go with a Fusion, that ball is going to be something else.

The lights out looks like the Tropical Heat Black Silver (pearlish looking Hybrid).
I know the coverstock change on the Turbine core is the difference between Reactor Hybrid and the R2S hybrid.
Why so smooth?. I find most of the Storm Hybrid pearls to have quite a jump on the wet dry I bowl on. I own a Rising star.
Please clarify. Is it the surface added?

PS I own at least three turbine core balls a Tropical Heat Indigo(have loved on snappy wet dry) and also a Tropical Heat Purple Black not as loved. A Storm Natural...eh?

Here is my review for brand new Storm Lights Out.
I couldn’t have been more excited to see R2S hybrid wrapped around the proven Turbine core. My all time favorite cover (hy-road) combined with a weaker core got my blood pumping :-)
This ball is going to way out perform it’s price tag. I cannot believe how good and how strong this ball is for the line it’s in. If you’re looking for a ball that goes way down the lane and sideways (like somebody kicked it) then this is the one for you. I have been able to strike from a wide variety of angles with this gem. Ranging from straight down the lane or from 5th arrow, it just keeps comin. House shot killer!! I’ll give it 7.25/10
Now shelf appeal is a bit lacking on this one, black/silver (like tropical heat hybrid) with white labels. I would have liked to have seen ALL black or at
least much darker to go with the name. I do like the “blacked out†locator pin tho, nice touch! Scent is as good as they come with “apple fritterâ€. I’ll give it 6.5/10 for shelf appeal.

The kicked sideways quote caught my eye as did this video below which found that for this high speed player the ball really had a very stong reaction off the dry!

Mine is drilled 40x4x60. P3 hole. 4000 surface And I would not call it sideways at all. It's a hard move but not crazy. It gets down lane clean and does make a strong move but not "snappy" at all. Considering I'm higher tilt 26 degrees I've experienced a lot is "snappy or sideways" and I wouldn't consider this one of them.

Maybe, it is the surface alteration?. That video I posted did you see that thing jump?
And that guy is FAST! Any other thoughts? V? or Anyone? Lights out, Jumpy or Smooth?

I have a motion hole layout on my Lights Out. I am a stroker with ball speed between 15-16 Quibica. I have used the ball for a couple of months. This ball is great on broken down shots or on medium to light oil where there is friction on the outside.
The ball is continuous on the backend, but by no means jumpy. I have tried it at various surface finishes and have yet to see it kick sideways. Right now I have it at 500/2000/polish and this is where I get the most consistent reaction. The ball takes to cover changes well. At 500/1000 with the right layout (moderate), the ball would be fine for most THS first out the bag.
Looking at the video above, if you watch the ball throughout the lane, you see that it begins to transition in the midlane. Just looking at the excerpts at the end does not tell you much.
I personally like the Heat Hybrid better, but they are very close in reaction, with the Heat actually being later and stronger in the back.

The term "Kicked Sideways" should be used loosely here. In the video LuckyLefty posted is about the same type of ball motion I see with my Lights Out on a 39' THS. I wouldn't call it a jump left type of ball reaction but strong smooth arch that continues through the pins. Now my IQ Tour Pearl is a little bit different, that ball with a similar layout is a bit more snappy off the end of the pattern but they are 2 totally different balls in different lines of the Storm lineup.

I watched your video and did see the "jump" you speak of, however I would term that more of a hard move on the back. Now of course should you use this piece on the wrong condition where there is an even lighter volume of oil, you most definitely will see the snap come out.
This ball reminds me of my old LT-48 Gold in movement. I believe that was a medium condition piece as well.

I just don't see the movement as near "kicked left." I have a Marvel Pearl that is much more angular, that might fit that discription. This ball is for me, at best, a strong arcing ball. I can say this having used it on a number of conditions.

I appreciate all the helpful comments above.
I bowl on a shot that stays pretty harsh for awhile on the left. I know someone who could really use this ball but at 19 mph he can smooth it out like the video powerhouse!
The yellow oil machines do not seem to supply a blend but only harsh borders in its side to side application(forget the name of machine).
Right now I have two solids that are giving me a smooth reaction off of the dry.....C System 3.5 and a Mission X(not as smooth) early in the set!
Last year the border was so steep near the 10 board I used no pearls until the 3rd game!
This year smoother and my speed up.
