Title: Lock - now I am impressed!
Post by: Metal_rules on November 01, 2015, 05:07:27 PM
At first I did not like this ball. I had left it oob, it just burned up and left flat 10's. So cover change to 2k and polish, now this ball is impressing me. Very smooth and strong rolling. What I like the most is the pin action. Carry's more 10's out than I am used too ,which is awesome. I usually can start right and migrate left, and I still get great carry and pin action from this ball. So far this has been a great choice. If a pearl comes out with this core, it would make an awesome 1-2. Great job Storm!

I wonder if more people have put some polish on it. I'm looking for an asymmetric motion that gets downlane with a nice clean motion in the back in a similar fashion to the Virtual Energy.

Except there isn't a collegiate discount for 900 Global.

I did want to add this, depending on the lane condition a cover change may not be needed. But for the "ths" I bowl on, it was needed. This is now the ball I start with, and usually I can use all 3 games. Mostly subtle moves left, and the ball still rolls smooth and recovers ;)

The lock is stupid fun to throw and really impressive at how much controlled strength it has. I drilled one up 4x4x1 as I really like this setup the first time I drill a ball as it gives me a solid base to work off any possible re-drills or surface adjustments. Now my game is in the dumps right now and I'm slowly working out all the kinks, but this balls most impressive feature is the way the ball clears the heads and midlane without even a hint of jumping too early.

I now bowl two leagues in two houses with two different "house shots", one is a typical blocked up wall of bounce typically seen as the normal "THS". The other is a beefed up house shot, flatter with more oil, typically a ball swung out to the 5 board will hit the 6-10 in the face. Every ball comes back with full rings of oil on them ALL night long, so you can typically just keep edging on the line oil and only move 5-6 boards a night at most. The Lock eats up the heavier shot like it's nothing, controlled sweeping hook great continuation. On the lesser shot, it holds steady and makes a strong move to the pocket on the back end and really allows me to play a different part of the lane than 95% of the other bowlers in the league. Versatility is an understatement with this ball, and it seems you are seeing the same thing.

Pearl.....lock....yes please! My favorite ball of all time was the el nino 2k, I see similar motions with my lock now and I'm sure a pearl would be almost identical to my old 2K
